Godzilla is a currently-running Godzilla comic series by IDW Publishing, and the franchise's first American interconnected ongoing title since Godzilla: Rulers of Earth (2013–2015).[a] It is part of a new shared universe dubbed the Kai-Sei Era, along with Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone and Starship Godzilla, with which it runs concurrently. The series is written by Tim Seeley; Nikola Čižmešija served as the illustrator of the first story arc while Hendry Prasetya and Giada Belviso took over as the series artists for the second story arc. The first issue was released on July 23, 2025.[3] A trade paperback titled Godzilla: End of the Reign, collecting the first six-issue story arc, will be released on June 23, 2026.[4]
Decades prior to the comic's events, the titular monster was awakened by a mysterious energy source known as Kai-Sei and went on to fundamentally alter the Earth alongside numerous other kaiju. Now, the United Nations is attempting to fight back against the monsters with the creation of teams of elite individuals around the world, known collectively as G-Force. The series follows one such branch, G-Force USA, who benefit from a secret weapon: member Jacen Braid, a "G-Mutant" empowered by the same Kai-Sei energy as Godzilla. In the first story arc, the team must contend with the villainous Lament, its bloodsucking creation Yacumama, and other emerging kaiju as they fight to stop Godzilla from overtaking the planet.

Development
IDW Publishing first revealed plans for a new Godzilla ongoing title and shared universe with the solicitation of Godzilla: The New Heroes in November 2024. The series was formally announced alongside Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone and Starship Godzilla on February 19, 2025, as part of IGN's Fan Fest event.[6] The full synopsis was revealed later that day on the official Godzilla website.[5]
According to editor Jake Williams in a Reddit AMA, the comic will release on a monthly basis; 12 issues had already been outlined by early June 2025.[7]

Notes
- ↑ It has been erroneously advertised as the first Godzilla ongoing series in a decade, full stop,[1][2] which ignores the ongoing series Godzilla Rivals (2021–2024) and Godzilla vs. America (2025–). It is the first ongoing series with an overarching story since Rulers of Earth, however, as the aforementioned comics both consist of one-shots with no continuity.
