The second entry in the Kai-Sei era continues! The Wanderer is a kaiju/human abomination who rarely sees something he hasn't before, and never sees anything that scares him. That is, until the chest of the largest kaiju he's ever seen bursts open to reveal a human girl controlling the monster. Before the Wanderer can learn more about this girl, they're both captured by a mysterious cult known as the Church of Godzilla! What does the church want with them? And more importantly, can they escape alive?![2]

Plot
In Mutant City, formerly Portland, Norman's partner brings their six-year relationship to its inevitable end. While smoking a cigarette outside, he is approached by an acolyte of the Church of Godzilla, who hands him a pamphlet. The Wanderer asks the girl he rescued what her name is, but she only asks for her brother, who turns out to have been controlling the other monster, bursting out of its head. He refers to her as Glasseater and angrily demands that the Wanderer put her down just before tranquilizer darts knock out both kids. A third dart bounces off the Wanderer; irritated, he advances on the shooter. Their superior calls for a gas canister instead, which quickly renders him unconscious as well.
The Wanderer awakens to find himself chained up in a dungeon and watched by a masked figure. She's impressed at his mutation, particularly his ability to sense the church's stockpile of Kai-Sei energy. At his horror, she explains that the church would welcome Godzilla discovering the stockpile, as the kaiju has great plans for them. He warns her that he's broken out of chains before, but she's unconcerned, believing she can conclude her sermon aboveground before then.
Norman and a truck full of other Church of Godzilla recruits arrive at the ominous church, where they are handed robes to put on before Mother A, the woman who spoke to the Wanderer, delivers her sermon, flanked by a sullen Glasseater and her brother. She identifies the new arrivals as lost souls seeking purpose in a merciless, bleak world, and explains that their purpose is to venerate the kaiju who reshaped the Deadzone. Before she can finish, the Wanderer bursts out of the floor, having doubled in size and now sporting Godzilla-like dorsal plates. Norman nervously orders him to stop, but the Wanderer bats him aside with his tail. Mother A orders her followers to secure the children, and they draw the Wanderer's attention with the pleas. He rips off one of the acolytes' heads before grabbing the kids and crashing out of the church. He will later claim that he would have done the same for anyone in trouble and believed there would be a reward for their return: both lies. Mother A is stunned, but quickly recovers, ordering a massive search party to head out. She believes that they will have nowhere safe to hide this deep in the Deadzone.
