Plot
Jacen Braid's Kai-Sei powers are ineffective against the giant roundworms dragging him beneath Tampa Bay, forcing Dr. Rumi Chiba to dive in after him. Swinging her kogai blade, she slices into the monsters, quickly causing them to disperse. Braid regains consciousness at G-Force USA headquarters and recounts his experience to Marco Petithomme and the rest of the team. Petithomme determines that Braid will make a full recovery soon due to his G-Mutant abilities. Commander Riviera accuses Chiba of insubordination for leaving the group with Braid unannounced, but she responds that she had no idea he had stowed away on the boat. He accepts this, particularly since it delivered them a monster specimen, one whose head Chiba pierced without fully decapitating. Chiba summarizes G-Force's findings: the roundworms are simple organisms despite their size—and contain the blood of Anguirus. The roundworms draining its Kai-Sei energy would explain why it deviated from its migration path, as well as G-Force's easy victory. Riviera taps the roundworm, leading to a spray of blood as two smaller creatures burst from its body. Petithomme realizes the roundworm wasn't dead, just conserving energy to asexually reproduce. Braid shields the scientist as the newborn roundworms lunge, but Jet Jaguar strikes them first by enlarging his fist. Chiba orders Nuki and Incense to finish them off, but Riviera intervenes, hoping to harness their Kai-Sei-draining abilities.
17 hours later, the team is aboard a cargo ship off the coast of Bermuda, trying to draw out Godzilla. Chiba meditates on the deck while explaining the Japanese approach to kaiju to Braid. Viewing them as forces of nature helps prevent an endless cycle of revenge; even Godzilla's attack on the orphanage where Braid lived was simply a response to a perceived threat. Braid doesn't understand how his orphanage could have been a threat, nor the "engineering place on the edge of the Deadzone" where he first encountered the kaiju. He remembers his mother bringing him to daycare every day, and watching helplessly as Godzilla suddenly appeared to attack the facility where she worked. For him, the monster's actions feel highly personal. Chiba, despite her considerable reservations about G-Force USA, is determined not to leave Braid. Nuki, passing by, mistakes Chiba holding Braid's shoulders as a romantic moment and hastily exits. She is equally embarrassed to enter Incense's room to find him shirtless and oiling up for a livestream. She laments everyone wanting to be alone on the one day she's feeling sociable, but is interrupted by an explosion rocking the ship.
Chiba is unable to detect any kaiju, leading Riviera to conclude the blast was from a surface-to-air missile. Nuki and Jet Jaguar fight off the pirates responsible until their leader disables the robot and restrains Nuki with his whip. Braid arrives on the scene next, barreling through pirates in Nuki's defense, but the leader catches his energized fist and holds a knife to his throat. Riviera identifies the leader as Captain Carroñero, and offers him the five tons of herring aboard if he and his men leave immediately. Carroñero, however, concludes that such powerful individuals must be guarding something more valuable. His men beat Riviera and Chiba and open the hold. Incense arrives too late to stop them, and all present are stunned when a single giant roundworm, sporting three main heads and countless smaller ones, bursts out. Chiba concludes that the creature's offspring quickly bond with it to increase its size. Braid tackles Carroñero out of the way of a smaller maw. When he explains that the roundworm will absorb his Kai-Sei energy, an awed Carroñero identifies her as Yacumama, a creature of Peruvian legend.
A mysterious kaiju watches the battle from their monitors. They deem the name "Yacumama" fitting, even if they wish they could have named their offspring themself. They describe themselves as a black sheep among kaiju, bent on destroying the Earth rather than avenging it. They reach into a tower full of bubbling green liquid and grab a handful of smaller Yacumama. As G-Force headquarters panics over their supposed asset's transformation into a full-fledged kaiju, Petithomme contacts his superiors, who ask if Braid poses an "evolutionary threat" to them. More sympathetic to Braid after their last meeting, he responds that the boy and Godzilla may be traps for each other. As Yacumama reaches the deck of the cargo ship, which is now in flames, Godzilla stalks it from underwater, fighting off smaller roundworms.
