Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #6 is a comic book from IDW Publishing, and the conclusion of its series. It was published on February 11, 2026.[1] A sequel series, Godzilla: Revenge of the Deadzone, was announced on its final page.

Description

Enter the Deadzone! The mysterious kai-sei infected wasteland the government would have you believe is uninhabited…but do you believe that?

The Wanderer—a half-man, half-kaiju hybrid—is just about the only being brave enough to travel across this strange world. But as of late, he’s not traveling alone. He’s discovered two children with the ability to control kaiju!

In this issue…Godzilla vs. the Wanderer! The return of the Church of Godzilla! Possibly even hints at the mysterious origins of our mysterious heroes?! Find out in the first-arc finale of Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone![1]

Plot

The Church of Godzilla begins repairing the hole left by the Wanderer when he escaped with Glasseater and Runt. Mother A is dismayed at the arrival of a black car, from which two men emerge and present a hologram of General Onishi. Though disdainful of her organization, he offers her covert resources to recover the twins, who he considers U.S. government property. Mother A explains they were abducted by "another project." Norman offers to help with the mission.

In the present, Sherry Dottsman, the Wanderer, and Baragon stare up at the Church helicopters. As Mother A orders her minions to scan for Kai-Sei signatures, Baragon turns his attention back to Sherry, slashing her arm with his horn. Enraged, she drives an elbow into his face. The helicopters depart, having detected the twins, but fire a Kai-Sei charge at Baragon to keep the combatants and the stadium's occupants busy. The green gas it released mutated the monster, but Sherry still manages to hold him back while the Wanderer slices into him, to the crowd's delight.

Mother A descends on the house where Glasseater sits mesmerized with the other children and swiftly dismembers their caretaker. Norman struggles to earn the respect of the other Church members, but impales an enemy soldier on his pointed nose. Church forces knock out Hue when he comes to his menagerie's defense, then reach Runt and the child Godzilla. Norman is delighted to have a "mascot" for the church, but his moment is soon spoiled by the arrival of Godzilla itself. Mother A, Sherry, and the crowd all react with different shades of awe, while the Wanderer asks the monster if it wants a rematch. Mother A orders her forces to evacuate, but some linger to pay homage to Godzilla and are promptly stomped. Godzilla tears apart the arena, dazzling Sherry but enraging Baragon. The smaller kaiju charges and leaps at Godzilla, only to be intercepted by its atomic breath and blasted out of sight.

Next, Godzilla demolishes the building where the town stores its monstrous gladiators. As numerous strange creatures run free, Sherry runs to Runt's rescue, the Wanderer on her shoulder. Hue presents the child to Godzilla, and it runs into its parent's waiting arms. Norman accosts Runt, but Sherry picks the man up, screams at him to get away from her boyfriend, and flicks him away. Runt reunites with Sherry, surprised but delighted to be called her boyfriend. When he asks the Wanderer about Glasseater, she promptly arrives with Mother A on her pterosaur-like steed. Before Mother A can confront the Wanderer, Godzilla suddenly roars, enraged by the steed. It lifts its foot towards the group—and the Wanderer, summoning all his strength, manages to hold the foot aloft long enough for the others to escape. Sherry, Runt, Glasseater watch in horror as Godzilla crushes the Wanderer. As the kaiju departs, the twins run to his broken body, begging him to stay alive.

The Wanderer awakens in a containment unit. His captor, one of the men who met with Mother A, explains that it is designed to neutralize Kai-Sei energies. The Wanderer demands to know where he is and what happened to the kids. Holding the Wanderer's picture of a woman behind his back, the man states that he's being held in a G-Force black site. The Wanderer assumes that they are deep in the Deadzone, but the man, calling him Elias, clarifies that he is no longer in danger and they have brought him home. Outside is not the Deadzone, but the Walled City of Manhattan.
