Godzilla: Here There Be Aliens #4 is a comic book from IDW Publishing. It was released on September 10, 2025.[1]

Description

The alien invasion of Earth continues! Mechagodzilla! Gigan! SpaceGodzilla! Simians! Xiliens! Jet Jaguar! Hedorah! It's an all-out kaiju brawl, where the only clear loser is humanity! Is it possible that our rogue government agent will be able to take the country back from the Xilien invaders? And even if he does, will there even be a planet left when this is all over? Find out in the penultimate issue of the final entry in the Here There Be Dragons saga![2]

Plot

A newsreel reports on the war against the Xilien. The aliens now occupy London, Shanghai, Sydney, and New York City. Mecha-King Ghidorah has been traveled around the world dispatching Earth monsters: Ebirah in Florida, Titanosaurus in Barcelona, Rodan in Africa, and even Godzilla in Hawaii. Footage shows the King of the Monsters restrained in a hovering transport under watch by Mechagodzilla. Despite early losses, U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower vows to fight on. Agent Bob Jones, watching in the audience, scoffs at his bravado. Dr. Kyoto, seated behind him with two agents, chides him for his lack of faith. When he refuses to come with them, she stuns him with a pistol and has her agents drag him away.

Jones awakens on the Simians' secret Moon base, dubbed Area 52. He quickly picks up what appears to be a pistol and threatens her with it, but she informs him he's holding a grooming device. She explains that her civilization has been fighting the Xiliens alongside humanity for centuries, viewing Earth as an ally in their long-standing war. She brings him to the remodeled Jet Jaguar. They watch on a monitor as Hedorah tries to stop the Xiliens from transporting Godzilla, absorbing Hedorah probes into itself but wilting under Mechagodzilla's assault. Jet Jaguar rockets towards Earth, disabling Mechagodzilla on impact, freeing Godzilla, and helping him and Hedorah dispatch nearby Xilien UFOs. Kyoto and Jones watch dozens of Simian UFOs prepare for an attack on Monster Island, the Xiliens' main Earth base where they have imprisoned most of the kaiju. Jones is concerned about Mecha-King Ghidorah, so Kyoto leads him to their final weapon, discarded by the Xiliens after he failed to conquer Rome. Jones is stunned to see that the Simians have revived the original King Ghidorah as Frakenghidorah. Jones questions what he can contribute to this grand plan, at which Kyoto presents him with a pistol and asks him to assassinate the Xiliens' field general: Director Stone.

Trivia

  • IDW published this issue on the same day as its Godzilla #2.
  • Though it is not stated which Spanish city Mecha-King Ghidorah fought Titanosaurus in, the presence of the Sagrada Família places them in Barcelona.
  • Kumonga is mistakenly colored red in the panel showing him and other kaiju held captive on Monster Island, possibly due to his proximity to Ebirah.
  • Bob Jones shouts, "Get your stinking paws off me you damn dirty ape!" at one of Dr. Kyoto's agents, referencing a famous quote from Planet of the Apes. The quote was previously paraphrased in reference to the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens in the Dark Horse comic Godzilla #8. He later calls Kyoto "Queen Kong", the title of a 1976 parody film.
  • After stunning Jones, Kyoto tells a pair of teenagers in the audience that he's "got the reefer madness", referencing the infamous 1936 film Reefer Madness which concerned the purported dangers of marijuana.
