Godzilla: Here There Be Aliens #5 is a comic book from IDW Publishing. It was released on October 8, 2025.[1]

Description

It’s wall-to-wall kaiju mayhem in one of the craziest Godzilla stories of all time!

Years of storytelling has built to this moment — from the ancient arrival of kaiju to a run-in on the seven seas, and from a Godzilla cult controlling early U.S. history to the possible destruction of everything in the 20th century.

A kaiju clash that’s been brewing through time and across the galaxy ends here![1]

Plot

At home, Bob Jones contemplates the Simian pistol he's been entrusted with. Betty enters, asking if he can live out the universal dream of killing his boss, the undercover Xilien Director Stone, but he questions whether he has the nerve. To his shock, Stone himself then knocks on the door, with Betty calmly saying she invited him. Meanwhile, the Simian fleet led by Dr. Kyoto assembles in Earth's atmosphere, watching as Godzilla, Hedorah, and Jet Jaguar raid the Xiliens' fortress, Monster Island, by sea. Gigan, Mechagodzilla, SpaceGodzilla, and Megalon rush to meet them. Jet Jaguar breaks off from the battle to try and free the other Earth monsters, only to be attacked by Mecha-King Ghidorah.

Shifting into his Xilien form, Stone informs a stunned Bob that he's well aware he's been asked with assassinating him—because Betty told him. Assuming her alien form as well, she aims a pistol at him. Mecha-King Ghidorah threatens to overwhelm Earth's forces, prompting Kyoto to send Frankenghidorah into the fray. The two three-headed monsters trade beams as Godzilla destroys the chains restraining his fellow kaiju with atomic breath. They quickly join the melee. Stone, gloating that even if he couldn't kill Bob's program, he can at least kill him, is interrupted by Betty, who fatally shoots him in the back. She explains to Bob that she fell in love with him over the course of her undercover mission, and she called Stone to their house so she could kill him instead of the hesitant Bob. He struggles to process these revelations, particularly when his son reveals himself to be a Xilien as well.

Kyoto learns of Stone's death as Mecha-King Ghidorah and Frankenghidorah lock beams. Kyoto, seeing a chance to finally end the war, orders all Simian ships to open fire on the point where the beams are colliding, triggering a gigantic explosion which obliterates Monster Island along with the Simians.

Days later, Bob meets with President Dwight D. Eisenhower at the White House. The president confirms that the Xiliens have been defeated, while Stone expresses regret that he didn't initially trust Kyoto upon learning she was an alien. Eisenhower, however, was well aware of her true nature, given his membership in "a secret organizations that's kept tabs on this sort of thing for centuries." At this, he tosses a gold coin to Bob bearing Godzilla's image. He elaborates that the Sons of Giants faked their secret society's demise and will remain at hand to protect Earth's kaiju when they inevitably return.

Trivia

  • After Betty reveals herself as an Xilien double agent, Bob quips, "That's one even Rod Serling would find too unbelievable." This analogy is unlikely, as Serling was a little-known TV writer in 1954; his famed series The Twilight Zone began airing in 1959.
