List of minor Toho monsters

This page is a list of minor monsters from Toho-licensed media. This is defined as any kaiju, kaijin, animals, plants, or other beings whose roles have little overall relevance in the media they are featured in, and which are generally not trademarked. As a result, this page does not include characters such as the Meganulon and/or the Meganula, Fairy Mothra, Garugaru, the Barem, and Ghogo, which are all trademarked.

In Godzilla, a living trilobite was discovered by Dr. Kyohei Yamane in one of Godzilla's footprints on Odo Island. Yamane concluded from the creature's presence in the footprint, along with the age of the sediment found with it, that Godzilla must have been living in a deep underwater pocket since the Jurassic Period before being disturbed by H-bomb testing. In Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, Dr. Tokumitsu Yuhara created a cybernetic "Mecha-Trilobite." This technology would lay the groundwork for the construction of Kiryu, using the original Godzilla's skeleton.
Boiling earth pool creature		Godzilla Raids Again (1955) [U.S. version]	In Dr. Yamane's presentation of footage on the prehistory of Earth, the head of a creature rises out of a "boiling earth pool". It then glances at its surroundings and returns to the pool.	Despite the speculation that all of these creatures are stock footage from other films, no one has yet identified the films that they are sourced from. The exceptions are the Dimetrodon and the ceratosaurs, which were found in Unknown Island (1948).
Bulbous-eyed frog creature			A frog-like creature with bulbous eyes rises out of a "boiling earth pool" and peeks at its surroundings.
Sauropods Brontosaurus			Two sauropods clash in the Mesozoic Era.
Dimetrodon			A Dimetrodon crawls along the ground in the Mesozoic Era.
Giant Gila monster			A giant Gila monster shambles on top of a Dimetrodon in the Mesozoic Era.
Ceratosaurus			Before footage of Godzilla's destruction in 1954, three ceratosaurs can be seen strolling aimlessly.
Giant Lizard (大トカゲ,   Ōtokage) Large Lizard Daitokage Ootokage Giant Lizard of Faro Island(ファロ島の大トカゲ,   Faro-tō no Ōtokage)		King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962)	Species: Lizard • Length: ~1 meter • Place of Emergence: Faro Island • Roar: Main article: Giant Lizard. A Giant Lizard scared Kinsaburo Furue while he and an exploration party searched the jungles of Faro Island for King Kong. Osamu Sakurai informed Furue that it was only a lizard and instructed him to throw it down, then shot and killed the reptile with his rifle.
Giant Octopus (大ダコ,   Ōdako)		• King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) • Frankenstein vs. Baragon (1965) [alternate ending] • The War of the Gargantuas (1966)	Main article: Giant Octopus. In King Kong vs. Godzilla, the Giant Octopus attacked a native village on Faro Island before being driven off by King Kong. The Giant Octopus was also featured in the unused alternate ending for Frankenstein vs. Baragon (1965), where it appeared from the depths of a lake and dragged Frankenstein underwater to his apparent death after his victory over Baragon. The Giant Octopus' last film appearance to date came the following year in The War of the Gargantuas (1966), where it attacked a boat, fought Gaira at sea, and was defeated by the humanoid giant.
Mysterious Bones of Infant Island (インファント島の怪骨,   Infanto-tō no Kaikotsu) Skeleturtle [fan name] Kame no Gaikotsu Infant Island's Kai Kotsu		Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)	Species: Turtle • Height: 1 meter • Length: 2 meters • Weight: 500kg • Place of Emergence: Infant Island Main article: Mysterious Bones. The Mysterious Bones of Infant Island were present when Ichiro Sakai, Junko Nakanishi, and Shunsuke Miura arrived on the desolate and irradiated Infant Island. One of them, nicknamed the Skeleturtle (shown here), has since appeared in print media and has even received official merchandise.
Other Mysterious Bones of Infant Island (インファント島の別の怪骨,   Infanto-tō no Betsu no Kaikotsu)			In addition to the Skeleturtle, Ichiro Sakai and his team discovered several other mysterious skeletons strewn across Infant Island. These included a giant skull and rib cage, smaller long-snouted skulls, and several others. Gallery	As with the Skeleturtle, an ornament of the Other Mysterious Bones of Infant Island was produced by Cast. It is able to be attached to the Skeleturtle ornament to create a fuller scene of the island.
Giant Condor (大コンドル,   Ōkondoru) Giant Eagle (大ワシ,   Ōwashi)		• Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966) • All Monsters Attack (1969) [stock footage, as the "Giant Eagle"]	Main article: Giant Condor. In Ebirah, Horror of the Deep, the Giant Condor attacked Godzilla on Letchi Island, but was promptly killed by a blast of his atomic breath. It reappeared through stock footage as the Giant Eagle in All Monsters Attack.
Giant Praying Mantis (大カマキリ,   Ōkamakiri)	Giant Praying Mantis	Son of Godzilla (1967)	Height: ~2 meters • Place of Emergence: Sollgel Island • Roar: noicon The Giant Praying Mantises were native to Sollgel Island, and stalked its jungles at night. One mantis wandered too close to the camp of several United Nations scientists on the island, who were able to scare it away with gunshots. When the scientists' weather-controlling experiment went awry and triggered unrelenting radioactive storms, three of these mantises were mutated into giant monsters dubbed Kamacuras.
Maneater (人喰い植物,   Hitokui Shokubutsu)		All Monsters Attack (1969)	Height: Unknown • Weight: Unknown • Place of Emergence: Dream Monster Island History Main article: Maneater. The Maneater appeared when Ichiro Miki walked in front of it, distracted by watching Minilla trying to fire atomic breath in front of Godzilla, but failing. The Maneater sneakily grabbed Ichiro, put him up to its body, and covered his mouth so he could not talk. Ichiro then woke up from his dream and realized that he was being kidnapped by bank robbers. Gallery Maneater ornament by Cast	The Maneater's Japanese name, Hitokui Shokubutsu, literally translates to "man-eating plant," referencing how it grabbed Ichiro Miki and tried to eat him. A 2008 Cast ornament of the creature gives it the full name Man-Eating Plant of Dream Monster Island (夢の怪獣島の人食い植物,   Yume no Kaijū-tō no Hitokui Shokubutsu). Cast Maneater ornament tag
Smog Factory (公害工場,   Kōgai Kōjō)		Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971)	History During one of the film's animated segments, the Smog Factory made an appearance, grabbing up surrounding trees with its claws and growing in size while producing large quantities of smog. Hedorah appeared and ate the smog being produced, sitting on top of the factory and consuming it whole. Once the Smog Factory was completely consumed, Hedorah flew away. Gallery	Along with Hedorah, the Smog Factory is one of the first characters in the Godzilla franchise to appear in animation. Ornaments of the Smog Factory along with an animated Hedorah have been produced by Cast and One up. The latter company produced multiple versions, one of which includes a tadpole form of Hedorah. Fish People (魚人間,   Sakana Ningen)			History The Fish People were the product of a hallucination experienced by Yukio Keuchi while at a night club. He hallucinated that the other patrons of the club all possessed fish heads as they were dancing to the song "Return the Sun!." After shaking his head, he quickly snapped out of the hallucination. Shukra (シュクラ,   Shukura)		Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972)	Also known as the "homework monster," Shukra is one of Gengo Odaka's original monsters.	Graffiti of Shukra was included on a wall in the 2024 Monsterverse film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. However, it is not visible onscreen.
Mamagon (ママゴン,   Mamagon)			Also known as the "monster of strict mothers," Mamagon is one of Gengo Odaka's original monsters. Her design is loosely based on Gengo's girlfriend, Tomoko Tomoe.	Graffiti of Mamagon was included on a wall in the 2024 Monsterverse film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. However, she is not recognizable onscreen, with only the top of her antenna visible.

Shockirus (ショッキラス,   Shokkirasu) Giant Sea Louse		The Return of Godzilla (1984)	Main article: Shockirus. A wharf roach mutated after parasitizing Godzilla, the Shockirus came aboard the Yahata Maru No. 5 and killed many of its crew members. It later attacked Goro Maki when he came aboard the ship, but was subsequently killed by Hiroshi Okumura, the sole survivor of its attack.
Dorats (ドラット,   Doratto) Drats		Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991)	Main article: Dorat. Genetically engineered pets from the future, three Dorats were released on Lagos Island in 1944 by the Futurian Emmy Kano. In 1954, the Dorats were exposed to the Castle Bravo H-bomb test, which merged them together and mutated them into King Ghidorah.

Shipniocus (シプニオキス,   Shipuniokisu)		Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993)	History Shipniocus is a prehistoric species of fern-like plant discovered adhering to the eggs of both BabyGodzilla and Rodan on Adonoa Island. It emits a mysterious telepathic energy which, when interpreted by psychics and fed into a recording, produces a melody. Whenever Baby or Rodan heard this melody, they received a large intake of power. In the case of Rodan, the energy from this melody was sufficient to revitalize him following his battle with Godzilla and transform him into the more powerful Fire Rodan. Gallery
Pteranodon Robot (翼竜ロボット,   Yokuryū Robotto, lit. Pterosaur Robot) Pteranodon			History Main article: Pteranodon Robot. The brainchild of Kazuma Aoki, the Pteranodon Robot was a flying vehicle modeled after the Pteranodons he adored so much. Aoki brought the completed robot to the enclosure where BabyGodzilla was being held by the United Nations Godzilla Countermeasure Center and cared for by Azusa Gojo. Aoki let Azusa ride on the robot with him, but as they passed over Baby's enclosure the robot sputtered and suddenly dropped out of the sky, crashing in the enclosure. Both Aoki and Azusa were unhurt, though the Pteranodon Robot was damaged. Aoki later repaired the Pteranodon Robot and used it to exit the Garuda during the battle between Godzilla and Super Mechagodzilla.
Giant Octopus	Giant Octopus	GODZILLA (1998) [stock footage]	During the first military operation against the giant mutated iguana dubbed Godzilla in Manhattan, two looters named Renny and Jimmy were robbing an electronic store. As their crime was being committed, the 1955 film It Came from Beneath the Sea played on one of the store's television sets, featuring the titular giant octopus. Suddenly, Godzilla came charging through the street where the electronics store was located, scaring away but narrowing missing the two thieves with its crushing feet.	It Came from Beneath the Sea was produced and distributed by Columbia Pictures, a sister company to TriStar Pictures and Sony. Its inclusion may have been an affordable alternative to one of Toho's other monster movie creations in what is essentially a brief visual gag.
Issie (イッシー,   Isshī)		Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001)	Issie is a cryptid said to inhabit Japan's Lake Ikeda. It is only seen on signs advertising the lake, from where Mothra would soon emerge.	Issie receives a mention in Godzilla Rivals: Vs. Mothra, in which Mothra is trapped under Lake Ikeda.
Mecha-Trilobite (メカトリロバイト,   Mekatorirobaito) Cyborg-Trilobite		Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002)	History Main article: Trilobite#Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. By 1999, scientist Tokumitsu Yuhara had successfully created a cybernetic trilobite, which was dubbed a Mecha-Trilobite (メカトリロバイト,   Mekatorirobaito). Using living nerves and tissue from horseshoe crabs along with robotic components and special "DNA computers," Yuhara perfectly replicated the extinct arthropod, which moved and behaved as if it were alive. Yuhara intended to use this method to revive extinct species and preserve endangered ones. When the Japanese government learned of Yuhara's work, it recruited him to use his method to cybernetically revive the original Godzilla by merging his skeleton into a battle machine dubbed Kiryu so that it could fight the current Godzilla. Futami (フターミ,   Futāmi)		Godzilla: Tokyo SOS (2003)	Futami is only seen in a DNA canister.
Tezuka (テズーカ,   Tezūka)			Tezuka is also only seen in a DNA canister.	Tezuka is most likely named after Masaaki Tezuka, director of Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla: Tokyo SOS.
Deep-sea fish (深海魚,   shinkaigyo)		Godzilla Minus One (2023)	History Dead deep-sea fish serve as heralds for Godzilla throughout the film, their swim bladders emerging from the mouths, starting before his attack on Odo Island in 1945. Following his irradiation, the fish increase in size and numbers.	In Godzilla Minus One's novelization, a mechanic notes that the fish rush to the surface in a panic when Godzilla stirs, killing themselves with the sudden change in pressure. The deep-sea fish's swim bladders were sculpted by Shigemasa Yoshida and attached to real fish carcasses. It is unknown if the larger fish were also practical effects.

Giant Boar (大猪,   Ōinoshishi)		Frankenstein vs. Baragon (1965)	History While hunting for food, Frankenstein attempted to lure a Giant Boar into a trap that he had dug. However, the animal escaped and later, a tank fell into the trap instead. Gallery Giant Boar prop	Cast created an ornament of the Giant Boar in December 2018 as part of its Godzilla Ornament Special Effects Collection Mini series to commemorate 2019 being the "Year of the Pig" in the Chinese calendar.
Giant Sea Serpent (大海蛇,   Ōumihebi)		King Kong Escapes (1967)	Main article: Giant Sea Serpent.
Condor (コンドル,   Kondoru)	Condor	Latitude Zero (1969)	Roar: History The condor was caught and kept in a containment cell by the evil scientist Malic. Eventually, the condor was brought out when Malic needed to create a monster to intercept the crew of the Alpha. It was slaughtered and its wings were cut off, which would later be grafted to a lion possessing the brain of the Black Shark's captain Kroiga, forming the Griffon. Giant Rats (大ネズミ,   Ōnezumi) Giant mice			Main article: Giant Rat.
Mata mata turtle (マタマタガメ,   Matamata game)		Space Amoeba (1970)	History Venturing through the jungles of Sergio Island, Saki screamed at the sight of a mata mata turtle. After the failures of Gezora and Ganimes, the Space Amoeba transformed it into the giant turtle monster Kamoebas. Gallery
Sergio Island Bats (セルジオ島のコウモリ,   Serujio-jima no Kōmori) Giant Bats (大コウモリ,   Ōkōmori)			Height: 80 centimeters • Weight: 1800 grams History A swarm of bats caused Gezora, a monster created by the malevolent Space Amoeba, to break off his attack on a Sergio Island village. After Rico told the others about this incident, Dr. Miya concluded that ultrasonic waves must be the key to defeating the alien monsters. While searching for bats, Kudo and Ayako were chased by another Space Amoeba-created monster, a giant turtle called Kamoebas. They discovered a cave housing the flying mammals. The bats' sonar repelled the monster, proving Dr. Miya's theory. The next day, the alien directed Obata to light the entrance of a cave on fire in an attempt to kill the bats. He revealed his alien possession to the others, but an emotional appeal by Ayako allowed his human side to resurface long enough to let the bats escape. The aliens took control once again, summoning Kamoebas and a second Ganimes to the island to finally destroy the humans. The bats swarmed around the two monsters, disrupting the extraterrestrial influence. With their minds no longer controlled by the aliens, the monsters came to blows. Gallery
Soft-bodied Humans (軟体人間,   Nantai Ningen) Mutants [fan name]	Soft-bodied Humans	Prophecies of Nostradamus (1974)	Subtitle: Mutant Kaijin (変異怪人,   Heni Kaijin) Height: 130 centimeters • Weight: 30 kilograms History In 1999, the scientist Ryougen Nishiyama warned humanity that if they did not stop the arms race, it would lead to World War III. To illustrate his point, he depicted a bleak future of a world dwelled by the mutated survivors of a devastating nuclear war; the Soft-bodied Humans in this hypothesis had reverted to an animalistic state and fought each other over whatever resources that they could find among the wreckage. Giant Slugs (大ナメクジ,   Ōnamekuji)			Height: 40 centimeters • Weight: 200 grams History The Giant Slugs were created after the human race's struggle for survival led them to the Gibberellin, a plant which triples the growth rate of an average food harvest and Earth's pollution after corporations disobeyed the Japanese government's efforts to take care of the environment at all costs. Instead of complying to the agreement, corporations merely developed a technique to mask the noxious fumes that were being poured into the sky. So, after the excessive amounts of pollution and the Gibberellin's hormones, Earth's slugs were mutated into Giant Slugs. Fortunately, the Japanese government wasted no time in eradicating the oversized mollusks, sending flamethrower-equipped soldiers to take care of the creatures. Thanks to the Self Defense Force, every last one of the Giant Slugs were burned alive. Gallery
Giant Carnivorous Tree (巨大肉食樹,   Kyodai Nikushoku-ju) Mutant Flower [fan name]	Giant Carnivorous Tree		While the United Nations investigation team were dispatched to New Guinea, a Giant Carnivorous Tree ate a bird.
Giant Bats (大コウモリ,   Ōkōmori) Bloodsucking Bats (吸血コウモリ,   Kyūketsu Kōmori)			Height: 1 meter • Weight: 10 kilograms History A United Nations investigation team went missing after being dispatched to New Guinea after a series of freak climate changes that were occurring across the globe. A second party was sent out to gather information on the incident and to rescue the first party. It was revealed that atomic dust clouds were polluting the interior of New Guinea. The United Nations team was forced to don anti-radiation suits to continue venturing through New Guinea. As they continued their journey, the second party realized that the local wildlife had been irradiated by the dust clouds. Some of those creatures were the Giant Bats. The Giant Bats assaulted the United Nations team, and the members of the team were forced to duck and cover to escape the blows from the Giant Bats' wings. Eventually, the group pulled out pistols, shot all the Bats down, and continued on their journey. Gallery
Giant Leeches (大蛭,   Ōhiru) Mutant Leeches [fan name]			History A United Nations expedition team was sent to New Guinea to rescue a previous expedition team that went missing after a series of freak climate changes that were occurring across the globe. Upon their arrival at New Guinea, the team discovered that atomic dust clouds had irradiated the animal population. After being attacked by Giant Bats, the team also encountered mutant Giant Leeches that were living on the trees and in their branches.
Giant Plants (巨大植物,   Kyodai Shokubutsu)			History One of many strange phenomena occurring across Japan, a group of Giant Plants invaded a subway system and ensnared a train before bursting through the vehicle's windows and attacking the passengers onboard.
Dragon (竜,   Ryū) Sea Dragon (海竜,   Kairyū) Indian Dragon (天竺の竜,   Tenjiku no Ryū) Elasmosaurus (エラスモサウルス,   Erasumosaurusu)		Princess from the Moon (1987)	Height: 15 meters • Length: 100 meters • Weight: 3,000 metric tons • Place of Emergence: Indian Ocean History Main article: Dragon (Princess from the Moon). While a crew of sailors was sailing aboard their boat in the ocean, they witnessed the Dragon surface near their boat. Their first reaction was to shoot the Dragon with harpoons, landing only a few hits. The Dragon then swam at full speed toward the ship, destroying it and killing all aboard. Gallery The dragon	In addition to a prop of the monster's entire body, special effects director Teruyoshi Nakano also constructed a large animatronic of the Dragon's neck. A popular rumor is that the Dragon prop was originally constructed for the unmade Toho and Hammer Films collaboration film Nessie and reused by Teruyoshi Nakano for Princess from the Moon. However, given that Nessie was cancelled nearly a decade before Princess from the Moon was produced, and that no confirmation of this is made in any known official books, this rumor is most likely false.
Dinosaurs (恐竜,   Kyōryū)		Rebirth of Mothra 3 (1998)	History Shortly after Rainbow Mothra traveled back in time to the Cretaceous Period, a Pteranodon flew past him, and a Tyrannosaurus rex pursued a herd of Triceratops nearby. As it bit into a straggler's neck, Cretaceous King Ghidorah seized it in his central head. Before the T-rex could be devoured and Cretaceous King Ghidorah could abduct the Triceratops, Rainbow Mothra made his presence known with a volley of Cross Heat Rainbow Lasers, causing the space monster to drop the screaming dinosaur. After Rainbow Mothra severed part of Cretaceous King Ghidorah's tail with another Cross Heat Rainbow Laser, a Triceratops and a Tyrannosaurus observed the appendage as it burrowed underground and stared at each other in concern. Gore Magala (ゴア・マガラ,   Goa Magara)			History Upon the defeat of the Greater Rathalos, another portal opens, revealing a dragon perched upon the Sky Tower. The dragon takes flight and enters our world, challenging the three hunters into a battle that takes them back into the New World. A mysterious cloaked figure observes the battle as the Palico joins the fight.
Cephalos (ガレオス,   Gareosu)			Height: 1.8 meters History Stumbling upon an oasis with a herd of Apceros, the Hunter offers a thirsty Artemis to go to the water first. A Cephalos quickly emerges from the sand and attacks, but it is quickly decapitated by the Hunter. After the attack, he admits to letting Artemis go first as a means to lure it out. Dah'ren Mohran bones			While traveling through a mysterious desert in the New World, Artemis and her team discover the remains of a Dah'ren Mohran.
Lagiacrus-like statues			History While traveling to the Sky Tower, Artemis and a group of hunters pass through ruins with giant stone heads that appear to depict the aquatic monster Lagiacrus.
Nerscylla eggs			History While Artemis wanders through the Nerscylla nest, looking for a means of escape, she stumbles upon a cluster of eggs with fully formed embryos visible inside of them.

Gomess (ゴメス,   Gomesu)		Shin Ultraman (2022)	Subtitle: Giant Unknown Lifeform (巨大不明生物,   Fumei Seibutsu) Roar: History After waking up in a mine, Gomess ravaged the Japanese countryside until JSDF tanks killed him. He was the first giant monster to appear in Japan. Gallery Production and concept art Screenshots Merchandise Bandai Movie Monster Series Gomess (Shin Ultraman) Phantom Ultimate Modeling Series CCP Gomess Max Toy Company Gomess	The CG model of Gomess is a modified version of Godzilla's model in Shinji Higuchi and Hideaki Anno's previous film Shin Godzilla. This is a reference to how Gomess was originally portrayed by a modified Godzilla suit in episode 1 of Ultra Q. In Ultra Q, Gomess also emerges from a mine, although he is killed by the giant bird monster Litra instead of the JSDF. A shot of his eye opening underground just before the episode's title card is replicated in Shin Ultraman.

Firebird's eggs		Godzilla episode 1, "The Firebird"	Brock and Quinn notice that the Firebird is heading straight for the Arctic, and so the Calico crew and Godzilla all head after the monster. Blake theorizes that the Firebird is going there to lay eggs. Godzilla and the Firebird resume their fight in the Arctic, which ends with the latter's defeat.
Space visitors		Godzilla episode 8, "The Horror of Forgotten Island"	While seeking safety inside a tunnel from the rampaging Cyclops Creature, Quinn and the rest of the Calico crew discover ancient hieroglyphs that shed more light on the one-eyed monster's past: long ago, a spacecraft from another galaxy, piloted by at least two giant aliens, came to Earth and landed on the island, where the pilots were attacked by the same Cyclops Creature. Unable to defeat the creature, the aliens created a crystalline computer, one that Quinn and Pete had stumbled across earlier, to trap the Cyclops Creature by creating the force field that surrounds the island, preventing it from ever escaping.	While never given names, Captain Carl Majors refers to the aliens simply as "space visitors." The space visitors share a striking resemblance to Ultraman, notably the overall body shape and familiar headcrest.
Watchuki People		Godzilla episode 12, "The Sub-Zero Terror"	The Watchuki, sometimes called the Snowmen, were a species of ape-like humanoids living in the Himalayas. Thousands of years ago, humans drove the Watchuki high into the mountains, where they would remain and become the subject of local superstition. There, they discovered a jungle growing in a dormant volcano and used geothermal power to maintain a thriving civilization hidden within it. They mined gems and developed relatively advanced technologies and weapons during their exile as they kept their large warriors in cryogenic stasis, and prepared for their return to the surface world to wage war on the humans and take back their mountainous lands. It is posited by Dr. Quinn Darian that their xenophobic attitude led to their being forced into the mountains in the first place, but never confirmed. When the Calico crew came to the Himalayas, they were led into forbidden territory inhabited by the Watchuki, who took them prisoner. Godzilla arrived to rescue them and they sent the Great Watchuka after them. Godzilla defeated their champion, but the battle reawakened the volcano and triggered an eruption. Godzilla slammed a giant stone into the mouth of the volcano to stop the eruption, presumably killing the Great Watchuka and all of the Watchuki by burning them to death in the lava.
Diplodocus		Godzilla episode 13, "The Time Dragons"	Main article: Diplodocus. A Diplodocus rose from the depths of the ocean to attack the Calico crew when they were sent back in time by a falling satellite. The dinosaur almost managed to destroy its enemies, but it was stopped by Godzilla. Godzilla surfaced from the jungle to battle the Diplodocus, but once the Diplodocus saw Godzilla's fire breath, it quickly turned around and retreated. Abilities The Diplodocus has no known abilities.	Diplodocus was a real dinosaur genus, and was actually an herbivore that lived on land rather than in the ocean. Diplodocus lived from 154 to 152 million years ago during the Late Jurassic Period and, at up to 25 meters in length, was one of the longest land animals to ever walk the Earth.
Giant lobsters		Godzilla: The Series episode 6, "Cat and Mouse"	When Niko Tatopoulos and Audrey Timmonds are reunited, he is quickly pulled away to investigate sightings of giant lobsters. They are only mentioned and not seen.	The giant lobsters may be a nod to Ebirah.

They got into a great fight and returned to the base to treat the wounded, but then discovered that these spiders were like widow spiders, only larger; this caused them to theorize that they might be a new species. Hicks planned to eliminate the spiders by dousing the island in pesticides, but realized that that would kill everything else on it. The spiders were resistant to almost all toxins, and the Queen Giant Mutant Widow Spider attacked the base.

Komodithrax's egg		Godzilla: The Series episode 27, "End of the Line"	Godzilla and Komodithrax built a nest for Komodithrax's egg. H.E.A.T. used the H.E.A.T. Copter to prevent military helicopters from reaching it, but a Giant Turtle awakened and posed a new threat to the egg. Komodithrax was injured in the struggle, and Godzilla rose to fight the Giant Turtle. Komodithrax ultimately flipped the Giant Turtle over on his back and pushed him into a fissure in the ice, but also fell in with him alongside the egg.
Area 51 mutations		Godzilla: The Series episode 32, "Area 51"	Main article: Area 51 Mutations. After being created by American nuclear tests at Area 51, the Desert Lizard and Desert Rat were collected by the U.S. military and kept in Area 51 where they were tested to see if they could offer anything beneficial to humanity. They were then kept there in secret alongside the Thorny Devil and the Giant Armadillo, until the others escaped into the above-ground facility. They are the only two mutations that are shown not to have escaped, although it is unknown if any other mutations were kept on the facility.

Scientific and military experts nickname the phenomenon "the Blob" or "Gray Goo", both echoing the hypothetical scenario where out-of-control self-replicating machines or predatory cells consume all biomass on Earth.	The red plant mass shares similarities with the red weed from H. G. Wells' classic science fiction novel The War of the Worlds (1898) as well as the future flora / fauna ecosystem influenced by Godzilla Earth's presence as seen in GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters.
Robogodzilla (ロボゴジラ,   Robogojira)		Godzilla Singular Point episode 13, "Together"	Main article: Robogodzilla. The SHIVA consortium was secretly constructing a robot around the Godzilla skeleton that it had discovered. Gallery	Robogodzilla's design clearly echoes that of the Showa Mechagodzilla, while its origin of being built around another Godzilla's skeleton reflects that of Kiryu. The computer screens accompanying Robogodzilla state that parts of it were produced by "Black Hole, Inc." and "Third Planet, Inc." in both 1975 and 2002. This is a reference to both the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens, who built the Showa Mechagodzilla, and the Japanese years of release of the films Terror of Mechagodzilla and Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla. Robogodzilla's name was discovered by Japanese fans who decoded the special characters on the computer screens that were featured alongside it. Its name was later displayed on the Mechagodzilla exhibit at the Godzilla Museum, and in the 2022 book Battle of Mechagodzilla.
Unnamed Monster Island residents		Chibi Godzilla Raids Again episode 96, "Lip-Smacking Chinese Noodles"	These unnamed kaiju are residents of Monster Island. When Godzilla approached it, the Rat-Monster took his presence as a chance to eat another meal and attacked him. Although it successfully hurt the King of the Monsters, Godzilla ultimately got the upper hand and killed it with his fire breath, triumphantly roaring at it as the Rat-Monster sank to the bottom of the sewer water. He discovered a dead reporter whose camera he stole in order to sabotage his long-time rival Peter Parker. As Eddie reveled in his plan, several black tendrils emerged from a sewer and seized him. The still-alive and Godzilla-infused symbiote dragged Eddie into an alleyway where it forcefully bonded with him, becoming imbued with Godzilla and Venom's features and declaring themselves as Godvenom.

Kappa		Godzilla: Rage Across Time #1	A Kappa was briefly seen on the side of a road as Akio and Gorou Suda travelled to the Shobijin temple.
Demon Brigands			During their journey to Mount Purotekuta to meet with the Shobijin, the human warriors Akio and Gorou Suda were briefly ambushed by a gang of horned and humanoid-bodied Demon Brigands dressed in ninja-style clothing. Said Demon Brigands only appeared in a single panel, so their exact fate was left unknown. Heikegani			The Heikegani are a group of giant crab-like crustaceans who ambushed Gorou Suda and Akio at the summit of Mount Purotekuta, though the duo made short work of them.
Titans		Godzilla: Rage Across Time #2	As Godzilla made his presence known on the Earth below, the king of the Greek gods, Zeus, arrogantly boasted about the beast's inevitable defeat, reminding his fellow gods of their previous victory against the equally gigantic Titans of old.
Smiling robot		Godzilla Rivals: Rodan Vs. Ebirah	Dr. Carole Kincaid witnessed a smiling robot seizing a scientist in a chokehold while another brandished an axe during their tour of the space laboratory ParaSOL. When Rodan and Ebirah escaped containment, the pterosaur's powerful wings sent the crustacean crashing through several sectors of the laboratory, decapitating the robot in the process. By then, it had the axe embedded in its head and a spatter of blood on its face.
Giant capybara			Two scientists aboard the space laboratory ParaSOL attempted to corral a giant capybara with a carnivorous plant for a tail as Dr. Carole Kincaid toured their section. When Rodan sent Ebirah crashing through the laboratory, he in turn sent the capybara flying through the air, both scientists wrapped up in its tail.
Elephant sego lily and Jovian lavender-leaf sundrop			After learning that the space laboratory ParaSOL had imprisoned Rodan and Ebirah, Dr. Carole Kincaid likened the presence of the monsters in the same space to their research on megaflora in Utah five years ago: an elephant sego lily and a Jovian lavender-leaf sundrop, two isolated plants brought together in the same environment, ate each other.
Kraken		Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons #2	Main article: Kraken. Henry Hull listed the Kraken among other legendary sea monsters before declaring Godzilla was unlike anything else the world had seen.

Giant crab (Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons)			While exploring Yanes' ship on Monster Island, Sir Francis Drake's crew discovered the corpse of a giant crab with a stab wound, offering a glimpse of the horrors Yanes' crew had to contend with on the island.
Giant bats (Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons)		Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons #2-4	On Monster Island, Sir Francis Drake's crew was ambushed by a swarm of giant bats, which promptly began snatching up pirates from above just after they left Yanes' ship in the middle of the jungle. As the men fought back with their swords, one bat latched onto Henry Hull and carried him off despite Drake's attempts to save him, only to be inadvertently saved by Ebirah, who killed several of the bats before he began devouring the pirates himself.
Giant crab (Godzilla: War for Humanity)		Godzilla: War for Humanity #1, 5	On Monster Island, Minilla playfully chased a giant crab on the beach, though before the young kaiju could follow it into the water, Ebirah burst out of the water and attacked Minilla, allowing the crab to escape. However, Minilla nevertheless managed to capture a giant crab much later in the aftermath of Godzilla's battle with Zoospora as the two kaiju left Tokyo. After destroying the church's roof and crushing the Ophiogan archpriest, SpaceGodzilla grabbed the crystalline object and inspected it, only for it to begin cracking in his hand, revealing it had been an egg as a baby monster emerged from it. After a brief moment of confusion, SpaceGodzilla promptly crushed the baby in his hand with ease, allowing him to absorb its power, which he used to assume his flying form and summon numerous crystals that ravaged the planet.	Matt Frank, the writer and artist of the comic, has suggested that the Baby is related to Krystalak.
Human-scale snail monsters		Godzilla: 70th Anniversary	The human-scale snail monsters were human-sized versions of Schneckeczar who attacked a group of people evacuating from a battle between Schneckeczar and Godzilla. After eating one of the protagonists husbands, Hector, they retreated into their store. The snails pursued, eventually chasing them onto the roof of the store. After being surrounded, the snails began to close in, but were then gunned down by military forces.
Mothman		Godzilla: Monster Island Summer Camp	Mothman was among the various monsters who appeared at Monster Island Summer Camp.
Giant fish			The giant fish were briefly seen after the protagonists and Minilla passed in diving suits while searching for Godzilla.
Giant jellyfish			The three protagonists and Minilla briefly had an encounter with this giant orange-yellow jellyfish who attempted to eat them. However, they were easily able to get away after simply heading in another direction.
Unidentified Monster Island residents			Numerous monsters from Monster Island appeared at Monster Island Summer Camp.
Miniguirus		Mothra: Queen of the Monsters #5	After Mothra Gemini destroyed Omegaguirus, her infant offspring emerged from the husk of her carcass. The diminutive insect monster curiously approached Mothra and recoiled briefly as the latter raised her claw, but then gently touched it with its own. Sensing that it did not share its late mother's hostility, Mothra took flight and departed alongside the creature, which Emi named "Miniguirus."
Simian war monsters		Godzilla: Here There Be Aliens #1	While explaining the history of the Xiliens, Dr. Kyoto told U.S. agent Bob Jones that the shapeshifting aliens were prepared to invade Earth in the 1800s until war broke out between them and another extraterrestrial race, the Simians. The Simians employed their own giant monsters in the war to battle Xilien kaiju such as Gigan and SpaceGodzilla, though the Xiliens proved triumphant in the end.	The two monsters resemble Zilla and a Servum.
Deadzone monster steed		Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #1	In the Deadzone, the Wanderer tracked down and engaged a long-limbed monster with an armored hide that he had been hired to subdue. After a short bout, the Wanderer emerged victorious and rode the monster atop its back through various parts of the Deadzone. Eventually, he traded the kaiju for some supplies.
Blade-headed Deadzone monster		Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #1-2	While traveling through Zone One of the Deadzone, the Wanderer encountered a giant blade-headed monster battling a purple bipedal monster. Though the blade-headed monster's horn was shattered by its foe, it managed to grab the bipedal monster with tentacles on its back and hurl it away, defeating it. As the Wanderer discovered that the bipedal monster was being controlled by a young girl, the blade-headed monster approached them, at which point the girl's brother burst from its head, having also been puppeteering the beast from inside.
Bipedal Deadzone monster			While traveling through Zone One of the Deadzone, the Wanderer encountered a giant purple bipedal monster battling a blade-headed monster. Caught in the midst of the fight, the Wanderer grabbed onto the biped's leg to avoid being stomped on, only for the blade-headed monster to grab its bipedal foe and toss it aside. As the Wanderer recovered, he discovered a young girl inside the bipedal kaiju, evidently having been controlling it, which was confirmed when the girl's brother burst forth from the kaiju's blade-headed foe to check on his sister's condition.
Small Deadzone inhabitants		Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone (various issues)	Various small monsters inhabited the Deadzone, including toothy winged monsters, purple skull-faced creatures, spiked lizards, flying fish, tiny black spiked creatures, and rodent-like vermin. Kaiju eggs		Starship Godzilla #1-2	The crew of the S.S. Mechagodzilla was tasked with delivering rare kaiju eggs for an enigmatic client. Ayan and Rohan successfully managed to retrieve the eggs during an auction held by aliens, though shortly after the crew escaped with the eggs and their incubator, one of them hatched and wreaked havoc aboard the ship until it was pacified by Ayan. The remaining five eggs did not hatch.
Kai-Killer X		Godzilla #3	After Godzilla emerged in Atlanta, a giant robot was dispatched to intervene. Dubbed the Kai-Killer X, the massive machine was sold to the government by Kelso-Ko, owned by Gideon Kelso. As the robot engaged Godzilla, it projected holographic ads for Kelso's other products and business ventures while the voice of Kelso himself emanated from the mech, pushing additional products. The Kai-Killer X slashed Godzilla across the chest with its sword, though Godzilla immediately disarmed the mech before tearing off its arm along with a sizeable portion of its torso, ending the fight in seconds. The hapless pilot begged Godzilla for mercy to no avail as Godzilla melted the hull of the mech with its atomic breath before departing.
Alien bird-like creature		Starship Godzilla #3	Numerous bird-like creatures were present on an Xilien-controlled planet, flying along the S.S. Mechagodzilla as it prepared to land and later appeared throughout the town. More fled when Mechagodzilla battled Gamagera.	These creatures first appeared on a variant cover of the series' first issue months before appearing in the series.
Caged creatures		Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #5	Two creatures were seen in cages next to Sherry Dottsman after she was abducted and brought to a mysterious and dark facility.
Pterosaur-like mount		Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #5-6	Mother A commanded helicopters on a pterosaur-like mount above the arena where a fight between Baragon and Sherry Dottsman was taking place. She flew it into town to free Glasseater from a house where she was being brainwashed, then tracked down her twin brother Runt. As she ordered them both to leave with her, however, Godzilla frightened the creature into flying off by roaring at it.
Facility creatures		Godzilla: Escape the Deadzone #5-6	Numerous creatures imprisoned by a seemingly-normal town in the Deadzone with a thirst for monster-fighting escaped the facility after Godzilla's intervention. The fruit bounced into the statue, enlarging and awakening the stone warrior. The warrior crushed Ghidorah and went on a rampage. Godzilla-kun ate another nuclear fruit and blasted the warrior with his atomic breath, although the statue simply blowed the blast back at him. With Godzilla-kun almost defeated, Varan-kun assisted him by bringing him a hammer. Godzilla-kun consumed the hammer and his tail morphed into a hammer, allowing him to shatter the warrior into many smaller statues. Gallery Stone Warrior is defeated.	Godzilla later battled another animate stone statue clad in samurai armor, Gekido-jin, in the Godzilla Color Special. Both characters are likely references to Daimajin.
Ankylosaurus (アンキロサウルス,   Ankirosaurusu)	Ankylosaurus	Godzilla, King of the Monsters	History A new species of Ankylosaurus was discovered by Dr. Mad Oniyama with the assistance of a version of himself who travelled through time from the 28th century. As part of Oniyama's plans to take over the world, the Ankylosaurus's fossilized skeleton was placed on display at a dinosaur expo. With the expo in operation, the two Oniyamas used KIDS to fire a beam into the fossil to revive it, resulting in a living Ankylosaurus. Aware that Godzilla would come to protect Hideo Kaneko and his friends, who were at the Expo, the Oniyamas used KIDS to devolve Godzilla into a Godzillasaurus, and the two ancient reptiles fought. With the Ankylosaurus losing the fight, KIDS was used again to fire a syringe full of DNA into the Ankylosaurus's body, causing it to rapidly grow into a full-sized Anguirus. According to Dr. Oniyama, the Ankylosaurus's species was a natural rival to that of the Godzillasaurus's species.

Just like his father, he was inspired by the Decepticon Megatron from Transformers, with the appearance of the Autobot Topspin from the same series. Like all the other babies in this game, he shares his roar with his father.
Tarantus Junior		The Movie Monster Game (1986)	Roar: While exploring Tarantus' massive web, scientists found his egg sack and brought it back to the city. There, one of the eggs hatched. The baby began crying, alerting his father, who came to the rescue.	Just like his father, he was inspired by the giant tarantula from the 1955 film Tarantula. Like all the other babies in this game, he shares his roar with his father.
Matango Hives		Godzilla: Monster of Monsters! (1988)	Massive hives of the Matango mushrooms taller than Godzilla appear throughout the game. They shoot bullets at the player's monster while up to two spore monsters spawn from it, also shooting and attempting to swarm the player. Once the hive takes enough damage, the spores will stop spawning and the hive will start shooting bigger bullets in a different pattern until defeated. Though functionally the same, three types appear through the game: On Earth, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto, generic mushroom-shaped hives appear. On Mars and Saturn, huge, almost mountain-shaped mushroom hives appear. On Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto, mushroom-shaped hives with a seemingly collapsed top appear. Unnamed plant stage monsters		Godzilla: Monster of Monsters! (1988)	The jungle stages of Earth, Jupiter, Pluto, and Planet X are filled with plant-based monsters in addition to the Xiliens' forces. Not counting the totem-like gun towers, mechanical weapons that appear elsewhere in the game, there is a total of six different plant enemy types: Foliage cannons: small spheres atop wavy vines. They have what looks like openings on the orbs, and from them, the plants shoot at the player's monster in an arc. Thorn towers: asparagus-looking plants that move up and down while shooting lasers vertically. The lasers are colored the same as the player's character, and at higher levels, when Mothra's eye beams come in contact with the lasers, she is damaged. Vine cannons: plants that are rooted on the ground and have some kind of flowers coming out of them. From those flowers they shoot spinning projectiles that slowly home in on the player's monster. Bio-blockades: strange prickly-looking bushes that go up and down from the ground. While they do appear on Earth, it is only in the background and they do not attack, nor can they be hit. Bio-cannons: large plants that have a big flower in the middle. They attack the exact same as the pole enemies, and like them, these plants cannot be walked through until defeated. Like the previous plant, it only appears as part of the background on Earth. Airborne bombers: flying flowers that shower bullets down once the player gets close. Firestorm Phoenixes		Godzilla: Monster of Monsters! (1988)	Firestorm Phoenixes populate the volcano levels of Earth, Mars, Pluto, and Planet X. When first seen, they are in a fireball, and once the player's monster gets close, the ball explodes, revealing a fiery bird that immediately begins shooting slow homing fireballs at the player. They are easily dispatched by a few hits. Gallery The Phoenixes' sprites	The Phoenixes use the exact same bullets and attack patterns as the Manda monsters found in the same stages. While in their fireball form, they can be defeated from a distance without even getting a chance to attack.
