Barakidon (バラキドン Barakidon) is a mutant chicken kaiju created by Toho that first appeared in the 12th episode of Zone Fighter, titled "The Terror-Beast Base: Invade the Earth!".
Design
Barakidon resembles a massive chicken with a green covered hunch-back. His eyes are an emerald green, and various eyespots of the same color are located around his body. Mats of brown feathers sit on either side of his neck and his extremely long tail. He has massive clawed hands at the ends of his wings. His skin varies in color from purple to a deep blue, and he has a red comb on top of his neck, similar to the those found on chickens.
Origins
Barakidon was launched from a Terror-Beast Missile from the Garoga Space Station, which transformed into a giant egg upon burrowing into the ground. Four other missiles launched alongside it transformed into a secret underground base. The Garogas harvested the energy of abducted chickens and seismic energy, feeding this combination to the egg and eventually spawning Barakidon.

"The Terror-Beast Base: Invade the Earth!"
After recounting the multiple failures of past Terror-Beasts, including Dragon King, Destro-King, and Spyler, the Baron Garoga seemed convinced that none of his underlings could bring him a kaiju capable of defeating the Zone Family. Eventually, a Garoga general told him that he had an idea prepared, and was launched with a squad of grunts towards Earth via a Terror-Beast Missile, alongside four other missiles. As they landed, the missiles continued to burrow their way into the ground, the Terror-Beast Missile transforming into a large egg and the others forming together and creating an underground Garoga base. The Garogas began their plan, stealing hundreds of chickens from coops and bringing them back to their base. During one of their raids, a group of Garoga grunts and their general were interrupted by Takeru Jo and Hikaru Sakimori. Takeru was knocked unconscious during the fight, allowing Hikaru to transform into Zone Fighter. Hotaru joined the fight and assisted her brother against the Garogas; they eventually gained the upper hand, but were unable to save the stolen chickens after the invaders fled. While fleeing, the Garogas abducted Yoko, a female volunteer for the chicken coops. Hotaru attempted to track her down before disappearing after Barakidon's egg caused an earthquake.
The Garoga general declared to himself that feeding Barakidon's egg energy from Earth's animals and seismic energy would create the strongest Terror-Beast ever made. After seeing Hotaru and Yoko wake up, the general showed them Barakidon's egg slowly cracking, with the chicken's head popping out, telling them how the kaiju would be the one to finally kill Zone Fighter, guaranteeing them domain over Earth. The general then stole Hotaru's Zobot and lured Hikaru to their base, with the Zone Family sending Akira after him after discovering the trickery. After arriving above the hidden Garoga base, Fighter was ambushed by a trio of grunts. He was overpowered by them briefly until gaining a boost of energy and strangling them with their own antennae. While the battle was going on, Barakidon finished hatching and emerged from his egg within the Garoga base after he had received enough seismic energy to grow into his kaiju form. However, Barakidon's power was too overwhelming for the Garogas, with the general panicking as the mutant chicken rose up to fight, resulting in massive damage to base. After making his way above ground, Barakidon roared and stared down at the human-sized Zone Fighter. Before he could stomp on the hero, Zone Junior came by in Smokey and distracted the beast, giving Fighter enough time to transform into his giant form.
Barakidon was immediately launched on his back after the hero transformed underneath him. The duo traded physical blows before distancing themselves and circling each other. As the battle continued above ground, Hotaru killed the remaining Garogas underground, rescuing Yoko and stealing an anatomical chart of Barakidon before they made their way to the surface. Night fell as the battle continue. Fighter pinned Barakidon to the ground and struck his hunchback repeatedly, before being backhanded off. This blow forced Zone Fighter to his knees and he groaned in pain, with Barakidon following it up with his hurricane winds, causing Fighter to cover his eyes as a dust storm was kicked up. Barakidon then ran up and kneed the hero in the face, then jumped on top of him and mercilessly pummeled the Meteor Man's body and face. After missing one strike, however, the hero kicked the mutant chicken back. Meanwhile, Smokey returning to pick up Zone Angel and Yoko. As the battle raged on between the Peacelandian and Terror-Beast, Barakidon used his Red Light Drain to steal Fighter's energy. After weakening the hero, Barakdion unleashed his Radioactive Mist on him, even as the hero tried to evade it, weakening Fighter even further, before briefly turning the mist on Smokey as the craft got closer. Now having the chart of Barakidon's anatomy, Angel explained to Fighter that the chicken derived his strength from light and heat, with Barakidon's sudden increase of power coming from the moonlight, making the mutant seemingly unstoppable. Angel told him she would take care of the moonlight and to focus on removing Barakidon's body heat. Zone Angel then used the spacecraft to block the moon's rays, and with his source of light cut off, Barakidon panicked and attempted to run towards a nearby city, only to be blocked by Zone. As time went on, Barakidon began to weaken in the cold, with Fighter pushing him backwards with a shoulder charge and kick. Zone Fighter then prepared his Meteor Missile Might technique, blasting Barakidon with two volleys. However, the chicken persisted despite the immense damage his body had taken, leading Fighter to finish Barakidon off with his Meteor Freezer attack, removing all of the body heat in Barakidon's body and causing the avian to crumple in on himself before vanishing after various lights flashed across his body.
Abilities
Physical abilities
Even before hatching from his egg, Barakidon was able to cause earthquakes, with his egg glowing as he shook the Earth. When encountering the human-sized Zone Fighter, Barakidon attempted to stomp on him before being distracted by Smokey. During his fight with the giant sized Zone Fighter, Barakidon was able to backhand Zone off of him after being jumped on, with the hero groaning in pain after hitting the ground. After using his wings to slow down Zone, Barakidon kneed the hero in the face before jumping on and assaulting the hero with his fists. Barakidon was also shown to have impressive balance, as he was able to recover rather quickly when attempting to charge at Zone, with the hero cartwheeling out of the way. Similarly, he was able to roll back to his feet after being kicked by Zone under his beak.
Burrowing
After bursting out of his egg, Barakidon tunneled out from underground, causing tremors which split apart the ground.
Hurricane winds
By flapping his wings, Barakidon can generate hurricane-force winds. This attack was used against Zone Fighter which was able to prevent the hero from advancing towards Barakidon, while also causing Zone to become disoriented by the dust kicked up. Barakidon slams his tail against the ground multiple times right before and during use of this ability.
Radioactive Mist
Barakidon can expel a white mist from his beak which causes opponents to grow weaker. He used this mist against both Zone Fighter and Smokey, with it having more of an effect on Zone, causing him to yell in pain. As stated in All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume), the mist is also radioactive.
Red Light Drain
Barakidon can create a glowing red light from his crest, called Red Light Drain (レッドライトドレイン), that will drain Zone Fighter's energy and counteract his ability to absorb the sun's rays.
Eye Beams
According to All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume), Barakidon can emit beams from his eyes. These went unused in the series, although his eyes are shown to glow green on command.
Intelligence
Barakidon was smart enough to realize that light and heat were what kept him alive, panicking after the moonlight was blocked and quickly running over to a city in order to keep himself alive.
Durability
Barakidon was knocked to the ground when Zone Fighter transformed into his giant state. He was also shown enduring numerous Meteor Punches to the face, two Meteor Kicks to the face, and multiple Meteor Chops to his hunchback. Barakidon was sent to the ground twice after being hit with two variants of the Meteor Kick, hitting directly underneath his beak, with the first instance being when the chicken was on top of him, and the second being when the hero did a handstand into the kick. Most impressively, Barakidon was able to survive being fired at by two volleys of Fighter's Meteor Missile Might, a move that typically kills most kaiju.
Weaknesses
Barakidon derives his power from light and heat from various sources, most importantly the light of the Moon. When light of any kind is obscured, he begins to weaken due to a lack of heat and his cellular tissue will break down. After the Moon was obscured by Smokey, Barakidon began to run towards a nearby city in a desperate attempt to get power from its light sources. Barakidon was finally defeated after Zone Fighter used his Meteor Freezer on the kaiju, removing all the heat from his body, leading to numerous lights flashing across his body before the kaiju faded away.
