Godzilla (ゴジラ Gojira) is an ancient reptilian kaiju who appears in two consecutive issues of Godzilla vs. Marvel: Godzilla vs. Hulk and Godzilla vs. Spider-Man. Godzilla appeared in the Thunderbolt Ranch in Texas to help his ally Mothra, who had been trapped by the mind-controlled spider monster Kumonga, and ended up battling two Mechagodzillas and Kumonga before allying with the Hulk against Hedorah. Godzilla's next appearance came when he journeyed to New York City to destroy the Venom Symbiote, clashing with both Spider-Man and the symbiote in the process.
Name

Godzilla's Japanese name, Gojira (ゴジラ), comes from a combination of the Japanese approximation of "gorilla" (ゴリラ gorira), and kujira (クジラ), the Japanese word for "whale."
Design
In Godzilla vs. Hulk, Godzilla's design is based upon the MegaroGoji suit from Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973) - though his skin texture has been changed to resemble tree bark even more heavily than before. While in his Gamma mutation form, Godzilla's skin turns both light and dark green in color, his eyes become purely light green, he develops an extra row of small dorsal plates on each side of his body which are more apparent near his shoulders, and he gains a significant increase in height.
In Godzilla vs. Spider-Man, Godzilla's design is instead more closely based upon the designs of the Heisei Godzilla, albeit with more blueish skin, multiple rows of white spikes starting at his eyebrows which join with his dorsal plates, and a much more streamlined, almost weasel-like form. When corrupted by Venom, Godzilla essentially just resembles a Godzilla-shaped Venom and so changes color to dark blue, has pupilless white eyes, larger fangs, larger and more jagged dorsal plates which are more white in color, and a long tongue; he also has a pattern on his chest which appears to depict a curled-up Godzilla with no legs or arms.
Personality
This Godzilla is purely altruistic, with him going over to Texas in order to save Mothra, and going after the venom symbiote which is a cancer that would plague the world. We also see him acknowledging the help of characters like Banner and Peter, with him saving Peter from falling to the ground, and making sure that Ross doesn't try to harm Banner.
Origins
Little about Godzilla's origins is stated in Godzilla vs. Hulk outside of him having an alliance with Mothra, a history of battles with the Thunderbolts, and having killed Tony Stark prior to the events of the comic. Godzilla vs. Spider-Man expands on his origins to detail him being a defender of Earth who has existed since the Mesozoic era.

Godzilla vs. Hulk
Godzilla came out of the sea and started heading through San Antonio in order to help Mothra who was attacked by a mind controlled Kumonga. It is then that General Ross skydives into his underground base to pilot a darker Mechagodzilla, and commanding Bruce Banner to do the same with a lighter variant. They both then set off from the base to fight Godzilla in hopes of finishing him, as the ladder fired his atomic breath right at Banner's Mechagodzilla, destroying part of its face. Ross then counterattacked as he fired three missiles right at Godzilla, knocking him down to the ground; with the encouragement of Dr. Demonicus, Ross than commanded Kumonga to web up Godzilla. Godzilla then used his tail to send the Ross's Mechagodzilla flying into Kumonga, as he ripped out the webs holding him down and turned his attention to Bruce's Mechagodzilla. He proceeded to rip out its arm and used it to beat him down to the ground, and faced Ross and Kumonga as he used the atomic breath to destroy them.
Ross commanded Demonicus to do something, to release the fail-safe that only activated when things went wrong. Demonicus, knowing that this is his chance to get revenge on his enemies, which included the humans and monsters, released Hedorah from his incinerator which he later revealed to be an incubator for the new monster. Hedorah then went after Godzilla, who was still continuing to burn Mechagodzilla and Kumonga, and proceeded to use its sludge to burn Godzilla from a single touch of it. Godzilla used his atomic breath in hopes of burning Hedorah down, but it was ineffective as the sludge monster used its sludge to shape a tendril that slapped Godzilla across the face. This beat down sent Godzilla flying into the Mechagodzilla banner was in, causing such a large commotion that it angered Banner enough for the Hulk to come out. Hulk then punched Hedorah to back away from them, as Demonicus and Ross were reeling in from the fact that the Hulk survived. Hedorah then swipes Hulk away with a tendril, before melting the Mechagodzilla Ross was in to kill the general. Hulk interfered as he punched Hedorah's eyes, making the monster back off in pain, as he successfully took the general away from danger.
Hedorah than refocused his attention back on Godzilla, sending its sludge to penetrate through Godzilla's eyes, in hopes of getting to the brain to destroy it, with Godzilla's healing not being fast enough to counteract the damage. Hulk tries to stop Hedorah only to have his hand burned, as he than jumped to an electrical tower, ripping out an electric cable, and jumped onto Godzilla using the electric cable to recharge his heart. He then gives Godzilla his blood, stating that it can help him, as Godzilla awoke and started to mutate; Hedorah than slaps the Hulk away again before being met with a Gamma mutated Godzilla who towered over it. Godzilla, with a single punch, sends the sludge monster flying, and used his new green gamma atomic breath to destroy Hedorah instantly. The remaining sludge landed into the base where the distraught Demonicus is at, having lost his revenge once again, as the sludge kills him. Godzilla and Hulk work together to free Kumonga and Mothra, with Godzilla removing the webs that bind Mothra, and Hulk destroying the mind control chip on Kumonga. As Mothra and Kumonga leave the area, Hulk and Godzilla had a stare showdown with each other as the Hulk proclaimed that he is the strongest but not wanting to prove that as he is tired, and he collapsed on to the ground at the same time Godzilla does. Once back to normal, Godzilla left Banner to go back into the sea, but stopped to roar at Ross who was threatened to kill Banner, before giving the general a side eye to back down or face his wrath.
Godzilla vs. Spider-Man
As Spider-Man, with his new venom symbiote suit, was about to send a punch right into Shocker's face, they were interrupted by Godzilla as he came out of the river. Spider-Man and Shocker agreed to stop the fight, as Spider-Man webbed up the villain as he then followed Godzilla. Godzilla then rampaged through the city, plowing through multiple buildings in search of something, with spider-man in tow. They then reached Spider-Man's residence, as the hero then saved Mary Jane who has been in the building, hoping to surprise Peter after being gone in Hollywood as a model, who also knows about Spider-Man's identity as Peter Parker. When they were able to get to a safe location, Black Cat suddenly hugged Spider-Man and called him her lover, which caused Mary Jane and Black Cat to pressure him on his relationship with the other. What none of them noticed is that Godzilla was gaining ground on them; Spider-Man asked Black Cat to get Mary Jane out of there in order to get Godzilla to follow him.
Godzilla tried to bite Peter, with the latter dodged it, mocking it for missing his attacks, as Godzilla went around a building and let out a roar so powerful it separated the venom symbiote suit from Peter. The venom symbiote then bound with Godzilla, setting up a connection with Knull-a being who wants to destroy the whole universe. It was revealed that Godzilla tried to kill the venom symbiote because it wasn't a part of the world. The symbiote itself wanted to fully take over Godzilla, who is tried his hardest to resist as he rampaged throughout the city in rage. Godzilla, through the venom symbiote with his normal eyes, saw Spider-Man coming back in his old suit, with a sonar gauntlet and a hover board. As Spider-Man planned to use the gauntlets to hit Godzilla's head and remove the symbiote from him, which was proved the gamble to had worth as both successfully separate, with the consequence of Spider-Man being disoriented and not aware of his surroundings. As the latter fell down to the concrete floor, to a potentially fatal injury, he luckily was caught by Godzilla as he is faced with the Godzilla venom symbiote trying to recombine. Spider-Man then left, letting Godzilla finish the battle off, as he grabbed the symbiote by the tongue and blasted him with the atomic breath. Godzilla than gave Spider-Man an acknowledgment as he gets down to his level, as the ladder promised to only make his suits from now on, before he returned to the sea.
Abilities
Atomic breath
In Godzilla vs. Hulk, Godzilla first used his atomic breath against the Bruce Banner-controlled Mechagodzilla, melting off part of its head, and then used it to remove both Kumonga and the General Ross-controlled Mechagodzilla from the fight. Though effective against these adversaries, the normal atomic breath was ineffective against Hedorah though Hedorah was later destroyed by the gamma-irradiated Godzilla's atomic breath. In Godzilla vs. Spider-Man, Godzilla only used his atomic breath once, using the ability to defeat Venom and reduce the symbiote to ash.
Physical abilities
Godzilla uses his claws and tail in Godzilla vs. Hulk against fighter planes, the Mechagodzillas, Kumonga and Hedorah; he specifically used his tail to knock a Mechagodzilla into Kumonga and his claws to swipe a fighter plane out of the sky and later punch Hedorah when in his Gamma-irradiated form. He again used his claws in Godzilla vs. Spider-Man though also employed his sheer size and teeth to smash through buildings and attempt to bite Spider-Man - when changed by the Venom Symbiote, he also used his elongated tongue to wreak havoc and destroy buildings.
Amphibiousness
Godzilla emerged from the ocean to make his way towards the Thunderbolt Ranch in Godzilla vs. Hulk. In Godzilla vs. Spider-Man, Godzilla's appearance in New York City brings a tidal wave with him and he returns to the ocean following the battle.
Durability
Godzilla showed complete resistance to conventional human weaponry such as fighter jets or tanks, was unaffected by Kumonga's webbing and was only briefly knocked down by a trio of missiles fired by the Ross-controlled Mechagodzilla.
Intelligence
Godzilla recognized both the Hulk and Spider-Man as allies during his battles with Hedorah and Venom, specifically saving the latter from a height after he helped Godzilla fully resist Venom's influence. He also demonstrates strategic intelligence in battle as he knocked Kumonga into a Mechagodzilla to incapacitate both and quickly realized that Venom's adapted form could not be defeated with physical attacks and so he instead unleashed his atomic breath against the symbiote.
Regeneration
Godzilla is mentioned to be capable of healing in Godzilla vs. Hulk though it was not fast enough to counteract Hedorah's abilities.
Resistance
Godzilla showed some resistance to the Venom Symbiote due to his "fighting spirit" but still struggled to fully resist it without Spider-Man's help. Additionally, Dr. Demonicus states that Godzilla is not capable of being controlled, therefore leading to his plan to instead kill the monster with Hedorah.
Roar
Godzilla's roar was powerful enough to break the bond between the Venom Symbiote and Spider-Man.
Weaknesses
In Godzilla vs. Hulk, Godzilla was briefly knocked to the ground by a trio of missiles fired by the Ross-controlled Mechagodzilla and was completely helpless against Hedorah until the Hulk intervened, being particularly weakened by Hedorah attacking his eyes. In Godzilla vs. Spider-Man, Godzilla struggled to resist the influence of the Venom Symbiote and may have succumbed to its will if it wasn't for Spider-Man intervening.

Trivia
- Godzilla vs. Spider-Man's narration mentioning Godzilla vs. Hulk to be connected in the same continuity makes this Godzilla the only incarnation exclusive to Godzilla vs. Marvel to appear in multiple issues, with the rest exclusive to the series only appearing in one story.
- This Godzilla's interactions with Hulk and Spider-Man make him the first to properly interact with either, having only been seen with Hulk in a piece of art from Godzilla #1 and Spider-Man briefly appeared at the end of Godzilla #24 to take a photo of Godzilla.
- Godzilla vs. Spider-Man providing a weight of 80,000 tons for this Godzilla makes him one of the heaviest incarnations of the character, behind only the Monsterverse Godzilla, 2016 Godzilla, and the fully-grown Godzilla Earth.
