Wargilgar is a long-necked, spiny creature which vaguely resembles crustaceans and insects. He has a dark green body with flaps of skin above his legs, and fronds above his arms which look somewhat like seaweed. Like Spyler, he has two-toed feet and claws for hands. He has an orange, crescent-shaped head and a dark orange neck and stomach scales. Wargilgar's neck is covered in spines, and he has two orange antennae at the back of his head. His eyes are bright green and supported on stalks, and noticeably glow at night. He also possesses tiny warts scattered along his legs, thighs, below his neck, and shoulders.

"Invasion! The Grand Garoga Army: Godzilla Appears"

While looking at the stars with Akira, Hotaru spotted a Terror-Beast Missile descending from the sky like a meteor. She brought Hikaru and Takeru to investigate it the next morning. While searching for it, they happened upon Sachio, a childhood friend of Hotaru, who appeared to have escaped the destruction of Planet Peaceland. While Hotaru was ecstatic to see her old friend, the rest of the Zone Family and Takeru became suspicious that he was a Garoga in disguise after questioning how he survived when bringing him to their house. While Hikaru drove him home later that night, the Terror-Beast Missile containing Wargilgar finally detonated, unleashing the arthropod. Noticing Hikaru, Wargilgar trudged towards the vehicle while flailing his claws around. Getting out of the car, Hikaru transformed into Zone Fighter to fight Wargilgar, with both giants charging towards each other. Zone Fighter scored the first blow, felling the kaiju with a jump kick. Wargilgar retaliated by spewing flames from his mandibles, blowing up the ground in front of Zone Fighter and keeping the hero at a distance. Undeterred, Fighter blocked the next spray of flames with his Meteor Zone Barrier technique. He then charged at Wargilgar and grabbed him by his long neck, tugging him around before throwing him to the ground. Wargilgar revealed a double-barreled cannon within his mandibles, firing missiles at the ground where the hero was standing. Though he dodged all of the missiles, Zone Fighter was left disoriented and injured from the explosions they caused, allowing Wargilgar to advance towards him. Seeing her brother in danger, Hotaru called out to him, causing Wargilgar to turn his attention towards her, spewing flames. Though he failed to kill her, Wargilgar then redirected his attention to Zone Fighter, who had pushed through his pain and began beating down the arthropod. Seeing his foe injured on the ground, Fighter summoned his Meteor Gauntlets and unleashed two volleys of his Meteor Missile Might at the kaiju. Wargilgar survived, leaving Sachio to intervene by summoning a ray gun to fire it at the kaiju, causing him to disappear.

Eventually, the Zone Family's suspicions were confirmed, with Sachio revealed to be a Garoga assassin after one of his attempts to kill Hotaru and Hikaru was stopped. Realizing that his cover was no longer needed, Sachio taunted them through their television set and revealed that Wargilgar had not been killed, only teleported away to make himself seem more trustworthy. Calling out to the Terror-Beast, Sachio commanded him to destroy Tokyo, with the arthropod beginning his destruction of the city with his flamethrower and claws. The JSDF dispatched tanks and fighter jets to take down the kaiju and were successful in toppling him twice, but were soon obliterated by a combination of Wargilgar's flamethrower and Buckshot Missiles. Witnessing the destruction from their TV, Hikaru transformed into Zone Fighter and launched himself into the screen by using Astro Dash, arriving in his giant form at the broadcasted destination. The two quickly fought again, although Zone Fighter was still injured from Sachio's failed trap, and Sachio ordered Wargilgar to target the hero's right shoulder. After repeated strikes to it, Wargilgar injured Fighter enough that he was forced to rely solely on his left arm. At the same time, Sachio was confronted by Hotaru and transformed into his true Garoga form after she shot him with her Maser Shot, then transformed into Spyler after being cornered by her and Zone Junior. With Spyler's arrival, the two dastardly monsters fought relentlessly and managed to overpower Zone Fighter, with Wargilgar almost killing him until Zone Angel and Zone Junior called Godzilla for help. Noticing the new arrival, Wargilgar and Spyler left the injured hero on the ground and charged towards him, only for the Monster King to toss them away. Now with help on his side, Zone Fighter focused on Spyler while Godzilla dueled Wargilgar. While not a physical match for Godzilla, Wargilgar burned the reptilian with his flames, causing the Monster of Justice to back away in pain. Wargilgar ran towards Godzilla, only for Godzilla to unleash a sustained blast of atomic breath that set the kaiju ablaze. Wargilgar went stiff and fell forward, exploding as he hit the ground, his rampage finally over.

Abilities

Physical abilities

When unleashed on Tokyo, Wargilgar stomped smaller buildings and exploded larger ones with his claws. Against Zone Fighter, Wargilgar managed to throw him into a building before grappling him and battering the hero's head with his claws over and over. He next targeted the hero's right shoulder, injuring it and forcing him to rely on his left arm. He then hit Zone Fighter with an underhand punch before baiting the hero into jumping over him, catching him, and throwing him the ground. When the hero was distracted by Spyler, Wargilgar took the opportunity to hit him in the back with his claws before hitting Zone Fighter back and forth with Spyler, then grabbing him and sending him down to the ground. Wargilgar tugged on one of Zone Fighter's arms while Spyler grabbed the other before they both threw him to the ground. When Godzilla showed up, Wargilgar continued to batter and kick the weakened Zone Fighter, only stopping when Godzilla charged at him. Wargilgar attempted to pull Godzilla off a downed Spyler before the Monster King turned his attention towards the Terror-Beast and knocked him backwards. Wargilgar's claws are referred to as Demolition Shears in an anatomy chart, while the kelp-like protrusions on his shoulders are called Destruction Horns, with it also stating these protrusions can destroy a building just by touching them.[3]

Flamethrower

Wargilgar can breathe flames from his mandibles, capable of starting fires and producing explosions of various sizes on the ground beneath them. He used these flames to attack Zone Fighter who simply jumped out of the way. Wargilgar attempted to use the flames a second time only for Zone Fighter to use his Zone Barrier causing them to wash over it harmlessly. When Hotaru tried to make sure her brother was alright, Wargilgar turned his attention to her spewing flames towards her setting fire to the land around her, although she managed to get away from the flames. When laying waste to Tokyo, Wargilgar unleashed his flames upon the city causing explosions wherever they touched and clinging to the remains. After getting back up from the JSDF's assault on him, Wargilgar set loose him flames destroying numerous tanks. Wargilgar used his flames when fighting with Godzilla with it burning the kaiju with flames clinging to his legs, causing the reptilian to back off. The source of Wargilgar's flames comes from an organ within his neck called the Flame Gas Bag.[3]

Buckshot Missiles

Wargilgar's mandibles contain two retractable cannons that fire triple barreled missiles repeatedly. He used them to fire at Zone Fighter who dodged each shot leaving explosions at every spot they hit although the explosions from them were able to disorientate and harm the hero. These are both powerful and accurate, able to stun Zone Fighter and shoot multiple JSDF fighter jets out of the sky. The weapon is given the name Buckshot Missiles (散弾ミサイル,   Sandan Misairu) in All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume).[4] These missiles are produced from within his chest cavity, via a missile bag.[3]

Radioactive eyes

According to All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume), Wargilgar's pulsing green eyes produce radiation. If an enemy were to stare directly at his eyes, they would be exposed to the radiation.[4][3]

Durability

Wargilgar shrugged off the armaments of JSDF planes and tanks, although they briefly knocked him over twice, and withstood multiple blows from Zone Fighter, including the hero slamming his neck against the ground repeatedly and cracking it in an attempt to rip the Terror-Beast's head off. He also endured being thrown to the ground multiple times by Godzilla, although he seemed disorientated when getting back up. His most impressive feats were surviving two volleys of Zone Fighter's Meteor Missile Might, as well as a Meteor Kick to the neck. He was ultimately set aflame by a continuous stream of Godzilla's atomic breath, although he did endure it for a few seconds, with explosions occurring across his body before he succumbed to the flames.

Trivia

  • At 108 meters tall, Wargilgar and Mogranda are the tallest kaiju in Zone Fighter. However, Wargilgar appears only slightly taller than the 50-meter Godzilla when standing next to him.
  • Wargilgar is one of the only Zone Fighter monsters to not be defeated by the titular character, instead falling to Godzilla.
  • According to All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume), Wargilgar was controlled by Spyler. This is supported by the episode itself, which has the disguised Garoga giving him orders turning into Spyler.[4]
