The Hydra is a mythological serpentine creature originating from ancient Greek mythology that is featured in issue #2 of Godzilla: Rage Across Time.
Name
The Hydra's name is borrowed from Latin, and stems from the Ancient Greek ὕδρα (húdra), meaning "sea serpent."
Design
The Hydra is orange in color with three clawed toes on each of its two feet. It has a frill on the backs of its heads, and small green eyes with purple eyelids on either side of them. It stands on two legs, has no arms, and has a fan-like fin on its tail.
Personality
The Hydra displayed little personality, beyond obediently following Zeus' orders to attack Godzilla.

Godzilla: Rage Across Time #2
After Godzilla appeared in ancient Greece and thwarted Poseidon's attempts to halt his advance, the monster reached Olympus in a tidal wave. In response, Olympus' king Zeus called for the Hydra to defend his home. The Hydra quickly bit Godzilla's arm, which prompted him to tear off the Hydra's head. While the Hydra's two new heads were growing in, Godzilla blasted them with his atomic breath, causing four heads to reform. Zeus then sent a lightning bolt at Godzilla, allowing the heads to mature completely, but Godzilla grabbed hold of the Hydra and tackled it into Mount Olympus. The mountain then crumbled on top of the Hydra and killed it.

The Lernean Hydra of myth is stated to have actually been King Ghidorah, who is depicted battling with Hercules.
Abilities
Physical abilities
The Hydra relied on brute strength in its battle against Godzilla, managing to draw blood with a bite to the arm.
Head regrowth
The Hydra's most notable ability is that it can regrow two heads for every one lost. Starting with one head, it managed to reach four before it was slain by Godzilla.
Weaknesses
The Hydra was no match for Godzilla, who ripped off one of its heads with his jaws and severed two more with his atomic breath. It was ultimately killed when Godzilla rammed it into Mount Olympus and buried it under rubble.

- The Hydra was one of the many mythological creatures Toho took inspiration from when creating King Ghidorah.
- Within the continuity of Legendary Pictures' Monsterverse, it is believed by Monarch that King Ghidorah was the basis for the mythical Hydra. President Thomas Jefferson makes the same claim in the IDW Publishing comic Godzilla: Here There Be Dragons II - Sons of Giants.
- The Hydra is the only character in Godzilla: Rage Across Time to draw blood from Godzilla.
