The Giant Squid is a squid monster who appears in the 1979 Godzilla episode "Calico Clones."

Design

Despite its name, the Giant Squid does not strongly resemble its real-life counterpart, instead looking like an octopus. It has a stout rounded mantle with multiple tan spots, a prominent eyebrow ridge, yellow eyes, and a large serrated beak right below them, rather than in the middle of its tentacles like actual squids. Additionally, it has six tentacles and two arms, all of which are red with tan, sucker-covered undersides, whereas regular squids have eight tentacles. It also has a tongue.

History

Godzilla

"Calico Clones"

Dr. Voltrang showed a regular-sized squid to the Calico crew and then showed them the clone he made from it. He had altered its genetic code to let it grow to gargantuan proportions and unconditionally obey him. After the Calico crew escaped sinister clones of themselves Dr. Voltrang sent the Giant Squid to recapture them. Captain Majors attempted to summon Godzilla but he tripped, forcing Godzooky to cry for Godzilla. He flew out to distract the Giant Squid, only to be grabbed by a tentacle. Fortunately, Godzilla soon arrived and tied the Giant Squid's tentacles into knots, forcing the Giant Squid to retreat.

Abilities

Tentacles

The Giant Squid has several tentacles which it can use to ensnare foes.
