- ― Irene and Cap after encountering an Aloe Turtle (Skull Island episode 2, "The Last Blank Space on the Map")
The Aloe Turtle is a superspecies[1] that appears in episode 2 of the 2023 Netflix Original animated Monsterverse series Skull Island, entitled "The Last Blank Space on the Map."
Name
The turtle is never given a proper name in the TV series, and only alluded to as an "aloe turtle thing" by Irene in the sixth episode. Its name was later revealed through the book Kong: Skull Island - Creature Codex as Aloe Turtle.[1]
Design
The creature mostly resembles a tortoise, but with large, thorny, green and orange aloe leaves in place of a shell. Its skin is gray in color and covered in rock-like lumps, and its eyes are yellow. It has a serrated, beaked mouth.
Behavior
Aloe Turtles are a docile herbivorous superspecies that live in the midlands of Skull Island. They are semi-amphibious and migrate in packs of between six and ten individuals which are usually families. When threatened, Aloe Turtles will defend their packs, and especially juveniles.[1]

Monsterverse
Skull Island
"The Last Blank Space on the Map"
After having arrived on Skull Island, Irene and Cap encountered an aloe bush. They took notice of its large size before it suddenly rose, revealing itself to be a turtle. The creature groaned and acknowledged the pair as it walked away.
"Terms of Endearment"
Irene used a leaf from the turtle, or another of its species, to treat Mike's wound inflicted by the Kraken.
Abilities
Camouflage
The Aloe Turtle was capable of camouflaging itself as an unusually large aloe bush.
Gel
The cooling gel secreted from pores in the Aloe Turtle's skin and leaves can be used to treat minor wounds and sunburns; in Skull Island, it was used on wounds caused by the Kraken's venomous shocks. This fluid is highly toxic when ingested, however. While it is similar to the compounds in actual aloe plants, the gel is the result of convergent evolution.[1]
