SMG-IInd

SMG-IInd is an original G-Force mecha that appeared in the 1999 video game Godzilla Generations: Maximum Impact.
Name
The "SMG" in SMG-IInd's name is an abbreviation for Super Mechagodzilla, with each letter corresponding to the katakana characters for Super Mechagodzilla's Japanese name: Sūpā Mekagojira—S (Esu) = スーパー, M (Emu) = メカ, G (Jī) = ゴジラ. The furigana included in Godzilla 1954-1999 Super Complete Works nevertheless indicates that SMG is read as if it were an initialism rather than being read as "Super Mechagodzilla." The "IInd" part of its name is read as "second."
Design
SMG-IInd resembles Super Mechagodzilla but with more exaggerated proportions. It has a small head and long neck, which greatly resembles the head of Mecha-King Ghidorah, that can retract into its torso. SMG-IInd has thin yellow eyes which, despite looking separate, connect together and give them a visor-like appearance. This visor stretches towards the back of its head. inside of SMG-IInd's mouth are two small cannon barrels. SMG-IInd has a wide chest and narrow waist. On SMG-IInd's back are multiple backwards facing dorsal fins and boosters. It has large spherical shoulders which have the machine's Double Maser Cannons mounted atop them; these maser cannons can retract and extend. On the backs of these shoulders are large vents. The design of SMG-IInd's forearms greatly resemble the forearms from Goro Murata's design for Transforming Mechagodzilla; in place of hands SMG-IInd has four cannon barrels on the ends of its forearms, and on their backs is a large spike. The cannon barrels can extend and retract. SMG has large legs, and extending from its calves are large sheathes which house multiple boosters. SMG-IInd has a large stubby tail with a vent and blade at its tip which greatly resembles the Showa Mechagodzilla's tail.
Origins
SMG-IInd was created by the United Nations G Countermeasure Center in order to confront and defeat Godzilla. It is implied to be the successor of Super Mechagodzilla, being referred to as the "next generation of combat mecha" and as the second iteration of the robot.

Godzilla Generations: Maximum Impact
SMG-IInd was created by the United Nations G Countermeasure Center as the next generation of combat mecha to be used against Godzilla. While developed with the aim of achieving both maneuverability and offensive power, it became clear that the machine wouldn't be able to utilize the full capabilities of its high-speed hover drive system due to concerns about the crew's safety and reaction times. Ultimately, it was equipped with an artificial intelligence and rolled out as an unmanned craft. Nonetheless, Godzilla destroyed it.
Abilities
Laser Nuclear Fusion Reactor
SMG-IInd is powered by a Laser Nuclear Fusion Reactor (レーザー核融合炉 rezakakuyuugou ro).
Hover Drive System
SMG-IInd is equipped with a High-Speed Hover Drive System (高速ホバー駆動システム kōsoku hobā kudō shisutemu) which allows the machine to move at speeds of 330 kilometers per hour. SMG-IInd uses its hover drive system to outmaneuver Godzilla in combat.
Diamond Coating
SMG-IInd is protected by the Heat-Resistant Alloy NT-1+ (超耐熱合金NT-1+ chou tainetsugoukin NT-1+), which is coated in an Artificial Diamond Coating (人工ダイヤモンドコーティング jinkō daiyamondokōtingu).
Artificial Intelligence
SMG-IInd is operated through the artificial intelligence BH-3 which allows the machine to be completely unmanned.
Laser Cutter
SMG-IInd can fire a thin yellow beam from its mouth called the Laser Cutter (レーザーカッター rēzā kattā). This beam can be fired in a sweeping motion to cut through enemies.
Double Maser Cannons
SMG-IInd is equipped with high-output Double Maser Cannons (2連メーサーキャノン 2-Ren mēsākyanon) which are mounted on the machine's shoulders.
Plasma Light Bullets
By extracting plasma from its nuclear fusion reactor, SMG-IInd can fire energy bullets, referred to as Plasma Light Bullets (プラズマ光弾 purazumakōdan) or Plasma Shells, from the cannons located on its forearms.
Plasma Cannon
SMG-IInd can fire a powerful beam from a port on its abdomen in an attack called the Plasma Cannon (プラズマキャノン purazuma kyanon). This attack continuously draws plasma from its nuclear fusion reactor but destabilizes SMG-IInd's reactor core.
Wire Claw Attack
SMG-IInd can rotate its forearms around to launch the spikes on their ends, guided on wires, in a move called the Wire Claw Attack (ワイヤークローアタック waiyākurōatakku). Once the spikes impale Godzilla, SMG-IInd can use its hover drive system to swing Godzilla around before tossing him.
Force Field
SMG-IInd can deploy a circular green forcefield that it uses to protect itself from Godzilla's atomic breath.

Trivia
- In the opening sequence for Godzilla Generations: Maximum Impact, SMG-IInd is transported by a large aircraft, specified in the game's manual as a special transport aircraft used for long-distance transport. Coincidentally, Kiryu utilized a similar method of transportation in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla just three years later.
