Prince Vladimir ordered that the monstrous ambassador be greeted with treats, which Ilya Muromets was not happy to hear. Idolishche Poganoye behaved very rudely; throwing aside the tray of treats, he demanded tribute for twelve years and threatened cruel reprisals if the tribute was not paid. Alyosha Popovich and other observers of the negotiations reproached him for such manners. The ambassador only became more indignant, and as soon as he heard a reproach from Ilya Muromets, he threw a sword at him. However, he missed and only chopped off the head of a stone statue.
