The Plague Weaver is an arachnid superspecies spawned by Abaddon that appears in the 2024 video game Kong: Survivor Instinct.
Name
The Plague Weavers' cryptozoological classification, Araneae Pestilentiae, comes from the scientific order for spiders (derived from the Latin word aranae) and the Latin word for an infectious disease, plague, or pestilence.[1]
Design
Plague Weavers are bone white-colored spiders with minor splotches of red across their body. They have a large abdomen with several bumps and ridges around it. The creatures have long mandibles resembling those of a sun spider's that end in sharp points. They also have eye socket-like structures on the top of their heads similar to those possessed by Abaddon.[1]
Behavior
The Plague Weavers are the primary "soldiers" of Abaddon's spider "army" and are much more dangerous than any ordinary arachnid. The Plague Weavers follow Abaddon's orders through a form of telepathy and are always found in close proximity to the Titan. They attack by leaping straight at their opponent's face.[1]
Origins
The Plague Weavers are among the spawn of Abaddon, serving as the Titan's main "soldiers". The creatures are birthed from internal egg-sacs within Abaddon's womb caverns. Upon reaching maturity, they climb out of the skull-shaped, eye socket-like formations on their parent's head. This makes it look like Abaddon is "weeping" them out.[1]
History
- Kong: Survivor Instinct (2024)
Kong: Survivor Instinct
Following the events of Godzilla vs. Kong, Abaddon appeared in a coastal American city alongside an army of Plague Weavers. The creatures frequently menaced David Martin as he traversed the city in search of his daughter Stacy.[1]
Abilities
Physical abilities
Plague Weavers are strong enough to take down a human by themselves in mere seconds. They are quite swift, able to jump several feet into the air. The creatures can also crawl on walls and ceilings.[1]
Silk
Like all spiders, Plague Weavers are capable of producing silk.[1]
