Godzilla (ゴジラ, Gojira) is a giant monster who appears in the 2025 manga series Godzilla Galaxy Odyssey.

Godzilla's Japanese name, Gojira (ゴジラ), comes from a combination of the Japanese approximation of "gorilla" (ゴリラ, gorira) and kujira (クジラ), the Japanese word for "whale."

Design

Godzilla's design in this manga series is highly reminiscent of multiple Millennium era Godzilla designs, notably the version from Godzilla Final Wars, with a moderately bulky build. However, there are notable differences from past incarnations as well. He has three rows of dorsal fins, with the middle row especially long. The points are crystalline in appearance, jutting out from rough, leaf-like bases. Shorter points also jut out from the flanks of the dorsal fins. His forearms are lined with prominent scales similar to Godzilla Ultima, with pointed tips. Sharp, upward-facing, recurved spikes run from the bottoms of his shins to his knees.

Godzilla first appeared in 1954, a product of nuclear testing, and had been a threat to mankind since then. Eight years prior to the events of the story, Godzilla devastated the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo.
