Kong: Skull Island
Towards the end of the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War in 1973, Major Jack Chapman was stationed with the Sky Devils helicopter squadron in Vietnam, prepping for their journey home. Some time before the day they were to depart back to the United States, Jack paid a visit to his superior, Lieutenant Colonel Preston Packard, in his stationary office. As the squadron boarded their helicopters for take off, Jack took the passenger seat beside the pilot for his chopper.
After arriving at the island, Chapman exclaimed at Kong's presence after witnessing a fellow helicopter get taken out by a tree, before the helicopter he was in was also was taken down by Kong. After crashing, Chapman was separated from the rest of the group on the expedition. While in a shallow area of a lake and washing his bloodied face and wounds from the crash, he suddenly heard large footsteps before seeing Kong walk out from behind the mountains. He quickly hid behind a rock when the ape Titan starts walking his way before watching in fear from behind it as he witnessed the Mire Squid attacking Kong. While in a forest, he attempted to radio his comrades, only to receive garbled noises from the other end. Exhausted from his trip, Chapman sat on a Spore Mantis, believing it to be a log. After it stood up, Chapman became startled, causing him to grab his discarded gun and start shooting at it. However, upon witnessing the creature not attack and seeing it turn and flee, Chapman himself slowly turned around after hearing noises from behind, coming face to face with a juvenile Skullcrawler that promptly lunged at him. Later on, near the Kong boneyard, the same individual grimly regurgitated his skull and with it his dog tags, which was noticed by Captain James Conrad. Later, Packard found the letter that Chapman wrote for his son near where he was killed and told the others to give it to his family.
