You must embark on a long and perilous journey, through lands best avoided, and long forgotten. Japan's warriors will fight to the death, slowing the Mongol advance, knowing that the only path to victory lies with your successful return. But the road ahead will not be easy. Ancient evils roused by the sounds of battle will seek your destruction. You will either rise to the challenge together, or perish separately… Along with your compatriots on the battlefield. At the summit of Mount Purotekuta you will find the Shobijin temple. Japan's salvation awaits you there. But be warned……the one you summon is as formidable as it is ancient. After proving your worth, and waking the great monster, you must return with the swiftness of eagles. For the Khan's army, vast and powerful, led by men who are not men at all, will not delay in their conquest. If you can achieve all this, and return on time, only then will we find victory… Only then, will Japan be saved.

In the year 1274 when Zhenjin Khan arrived in Hakata Bay with 40,000 Mongol warriors and the two ancient monsters Gigan and Megalon, Daichi carried out a scroll from the Suda shōgun to his most skilled students, samurai Gorou Suda and ninja Akio to enlist them on a quest. Interrupting a duel between the two on a rooftop, Daichi informed them that all able-bodied warriors have been summoned to Hakata Bay in defense of Japan, stressing that "Petty feuds must be set aside for the greater good of the nation." Leading his best students to Hakata Bay on horseback to show them the oncoming threat, Daichi warned that Zhenjin Khan and his forces were not here to subjugate Japan but to bring about the utter destruction of the people and their culture. With his wisdom, Daichi insisted for Gorou and Akio to put aside their hostility towards each other and let their shared love for their country unite them on a quest. At first Gorou objected and began to unsheathe his blade, prompting Akio to draw her own weapon in defense of Daichi, who proceeded to break up the tension with his wisdom. As skilled as Gorou was, reasoned Daichi, not even he or the infamous Akio could cut down the Khan's monsters, both revealing Akio as a woman and yielding Gorou in the process. Pathologically easing the two young warriors by reminding them of his goodwill and regard for them, Daichi had gained Gorou's cooperation. Bestowing upon them a quest to awaken an ancient monster savior to lead back to Hakata Bay to ward off the invaders and save Japan, Daichi sent them off knowing the possibility of them failing, though he remained confident in his best pupils. Some time later, after the two young warriors fulfilled their quest and vanquished the invaders, Daichi reunited with his students as the shōgun commemorated them for their success. While Gorou and Akio explained that Orochi was lost and that Godzilla was uncontrollable, Daichi proudly smiled at their resolution to fight together if the mongols return.
