GODZILLA: Planet of the Monsters
In 2048, Akira Sakaki, along with his wife Haruka and his son Haruo, were chosen by the Omni Electio to be among the 5,000 passengers who would journey to Tau Ceti e aboard the Aratrum. Before the Aratrum took off, however, Akira and Haruka traveled to the United Earth headquarters to delete information on Godzilla, wanting to prevent future generations from being haunted by knowledge of the monster. While they tended to this, they left Haruo in the care of Daichi Tani. While Daichi brought Haruo to the Aratrum, Akira and Haruka traveled on one of a group of buses to the launch pad in the hopes of meeting them there. Godzilla suddenly attacked the launch area, shooting a Landing Ship out of the sky with his atomic breath. The Landing Ship crashed near the buses, the resulting explosion engulfing the vehicles and seemingly killing Akira and Haruka.

Metphies attempted to convince Haruo to offer himself up to King Ghidorah through a series of visions. One such vision revisited the apparent death of Haruo's parents, but with Metphies leading the young Haruo to the Aratrum instead of Daichi and Ghidorah's heads appearing across the landing platform. Haruo went back to pick up the flower locket he received as a gift from his parents―which he dropped while fleeing from Godzilla―triggering a memory of when Haruo was an infant, in which Akira and Haruka gave Haruo his name.

GODZILLA: Monster Apocalypse
An investigator for the United Earth's Information Department, Akira Sakaki traveled to Paris in 2037 to meet with Dr. Wilhelm Meissner, who was a leading expert in Godzilla research. There, he met Haruka Yashiro, a captain in the Maser Cannon platoon of the United Earth's European Army, or G-Force. The two of them fell in love and were married after G-Force liberated Paris from Gorosaurus in 2039. The two of them returned to Japan sometime later, and had a son named Haruo. When Godzilla invaded Japan in 2046, Daichi Tani served as Akira's bodyguard and helped him and his family escape. Akira and his wife and son were selected as passengers aboard the Aratrum an Extraterrestrial Emigration Ship bound for Tau Ceti-e. However, Akira wanted to delete data about Godzilla from the United Earth's database so future generations would not have to be haunted by the memory of the monster as well. Akira and Haruka traveled to the United Earth's headquarters to delete the data while entrusting Haruo to Daichi. Because of this, Akira and his wife's arrival to the launch pad was delayed, and they were set to travel there on a bus. As the buses approached the launch pad, Godzilla appeared over the horizon, shooting down a Landing Ship with his atomic breath, which fell onto the buses and exploded. Daichi assumed Akira and Haruka were killed in the explosion, and quickly brought Haruo aboard the Aratrum, where he would raise him as his grandson over the next 22 years. Haruo meanwhile, believing Godzilla had killed his parents, developed an intense hatred for the monster.[1]
GODZILLA: Project Mechagodzilla
In reality, both Akira and Haruka had survived, and as a result were left behind on Earth when the Aratrum departed. Akira and Haruka reunited with the remaining United Earth personnel left on Earth, and became a colonel and lieutenant general, respectively. The United Earth's remaining forces gathered in the city of Buenaventura in South America, which was attacked by Godzilla on July 31, 2048. However, Mothra came to the United Earth's aid and forced Godzilla to retreat after a fierce battle. Colonel Sakaki then worked with a group called the Monster Coexistence Sect or Cosmos to carry out "Operation: Cradle," a plan which transported Mothra's eggs to Japan so her offspring could defend humans living there from Godzilla in the future. Even though their beloved son was light years away in outer space, Akira and Haruka had helped to secure humanity's future even after the human race seemed to be on the brink of extinction.[2]
