Hephaestus

- Zeus: “Which one of you is behind this? Hephaestus? What have you created this time?”
- Hephaestus: “No, Zeus, it was not I. It must have been Poseidon! That is his wave. He sent that monster here.”
- ― Zeus asking Hephaestus about Godzilla's sudden appearance at the foot of Mount Olympus. (Godzilla: Rage Across Time #2)
Hephaestus is the god of fire, volcanoes, metalworking, artisans, metallurgy, carpenters, forges, sculpting, and blacksmiths in ancient Greek mythology. He appears as a supporting character in IDW Publishing's 2016 comic Godzilla: Rage Across Time #2.
Design
Hephaestus appears similar to fellow Olympians Zeus and Ares, taking the appearance of a tall muscular man with a full set of facial hair. In contrast, Hephaestus wears a brown chiton that is seen only once, though it evidently wraps around his lower body given that everything from the chest up is uncovered in both of his panel appearances. Additionally, whereas other Olympians possess terminal hair, Hephaestus is bald. In his first panel appearance, Hephaestus' facial hair is black and he wears bronze gauzes on his wrists before his hair changes to yellow and the gauzes disappear in the next panel he appears in.
Personality
Hephaestus' personality is unexplored aside from him quickly blaming Godzilla's existence on Poseidon when Zeus interrogated him.

Godzilla: Rage Across Time
"Ancient Greece"
Hephaestus lived with the other Olympians in their pantheon on Mount Olympus, walking near Zeus when Hermes arrived with pressing news. Later, as Godzilla appeared at the foot of the mountain in a tidal wave, Zeus furiously questioned if Hephaestus created the monster. Hephaestus denied this, instead suggesting that Poseidon was responsible for the monster's existence, given that he rode a tidal wave of Poseidon's making. In the following duel between Godzilla and the Hydra, Hephaestus was presumably killed with the rest of his kin when the monsters brought down the mountain and everyone in the pantheon aside from Zeus with it.
Abilities
Olympian physiology
Like the other Olympians, Hephaestus has an unnaturally long lifespan and can sense prayers from his human worshipers.
Craftsmanship
Hephaestus is renowned for his craftsmanship and yields a hammer at all times. When Zeus first laid eyes on Godzilla, he furiously questioned Hephaestus if he was responsible for the monster's existence, suggesting that Hephaestus is capable of creating living beings.
Weaknesses
Like his fellow Olympians, Hermes' power drew from the faith of his human worshipers. He was presumably killed when Godzilla rammed the Hydra into Mount Olympus, crushed within the destruction.
