In the real world

In fiction

  • Godzilla appears in an underground cavern beneath the Alps. Mountains, where Hannibal and his followers march towards Rome to lay siege to the city. Unbeknownst to Hannibal, some of his men were plotting against him and aiding a second party in pursuit of him. In the chaos that soon follows, both parties come across Godzilla, who proceeds to incinerate a man before continuing his way. Trailing behind the King of the Monsters, Hannibal and his men marched on through the mountains until they broke into battle with Godzilla. Despite the monster's power, Hannibal and his men succeeded in causing the cavern ceiling to collapse on Godzilla. Subsequently, Hannibal and his remaining followers closed in on Rome before Hannibal blew a battle horn. Unbeknownst to him, Godzilla survived their fight and freed himself with his atomic breath, projecting a mighty blue beam that sent the people of Rome in fear. Off-panel, Godzilla himself laid waste to Rome, thus ending the Roman Empire. (Godzilla: Rage Across Time #4)
