In the real world

In fiction

  • A group of Phoenicians make their way to the Japanese islands, where they encounter a gigantic creature. Believing him to be their god, Dagon, they witness his battle with an entity that the Japanese called Jinshin-Mushi. After being defeated and infected with his enemy's parasitic young, Dagon regains consciousness and returns to the sea. Eventually, he collapses and dies in the Philippines. (Godzilla: Aftershock)
