I probably like Godzilla and monster films in general too much for my own good... but I don't care.
I also have autism which isn't something I like to tell people since it gets negative reactions but I feel more comfortable saying it here due to the anonymity and the fact people seem to less aggressive towards that kind of stuff on this website.
Disclaimer: Some of the stuff on this page was written a while ago and hasn't been updated yet.
Becoming a big monster fan
For as long as I can remember I've always been interested in animals, dinosaurs and monsters. I think I started to become interested in Godzilla in my last year of primary school as something that grew out of my interest in dinosaurs and monsters. I think it's around this time I created my first big monster project called The City Destroyers. Unimaginative title I know but I never ended up finishing it. If you're wondering what it was about: A character called the Time Master summons monsters to destroy humanity with each monster being allocated a certain country/city/area to destroy.
Eventually I started to gradually look up more stuff related to the Godzilla franchise and watched the 2014 film in my uncle's cinema room (well, it's a room with a sofa and a big TV so close enough). Around this time, King of the Monsters was released in cinemas which was great timing! The rest is history.
As a side note: I don't remember when I found Wikizilla but I remember it having the KOTM style so somewhere around 2019 to 2021. It was only in early 2023 that I actually made an account though.

Ranking incarnations of certain kaiju (will probably redo at some point to include more incarnations)
King Ghidorah
1. Monsterverse KG - This is my favourite King Ghidorah due to his amazing design, evil personality and the fact I consider him to be the only one who's genuinely terrifying (KG is meant to be an alien dragon who destroys planets for fun after all).
2. Showa KG - Great design and an evil personality but he's not scary despite characters mentioning him destroying Venus simply because he could.
3. Heisei KG - A good design (but also an incredibly overused one) though sadly he lacks any type of personality or menace due to being under the control of the Futurians most of the time (Showa at least had one film where he wasn't under mind control). His origin story is also disappointing compared to most other KGs. Mecha KG is pretty cool though.
4. GMK KG - Good design but his personality as a good guy is extremely mediocre and doesn't fit King Ghidorah at all. He also spends most of his time getting absolutely destroyed by Godzilla even after getting powered up and has an origin story more suited to Rodan or some other flying kaiju.
5. Anime KG - A good concept but an absolutely terrible execution considering that he looks like three strands of spaghetti, barely engages in a fight scene and gets destroyed easily by Godzilla once Metphies gets his weird eye thing poked out. A pity really, KG could've worked well as an eldritch horror and he seemed to have a somewhat evil personality.
Notes: ROM3 KG isn't here since I haven't seen ROM3 but from what I've seen he'd probably be 3rd on the list if I included him.
Mechagodzilla
1. Showa MG - This is my favourite Mechagodzilla due to his awesome design, varied arsenal of weapons (I especially love the way he can shoot missiles out of nearly any part of his body) and evil "personality". He also appears alongside Titanosaurus so that's a pro.
2. Monsterverse MG - Another Mechagodzilla with a great design (the claws are original and allow him to more physically than any other MG so far), cool weapons and another evil "personality". He also appears in one of my favourite Godzilla films.
3. Kiryu - A good design, cool arsenal of weapons and the idea of Godzilla's skeleton being used for an MG improve this MG but he's very overrated and looks weird without the back units.
4. RPO MG - I haven't actually seen the scene with this MG but I have seen Wikizilla's kaiju profile so that's enough. Anyway: alright design and alright weapons make this Mechagodzilla nothing special but far from terrible.
5. Heisei MG - A bad Mechagodzilla due to his goofy design and use of beam-spamming which makes him plain boring. At least he appeared in his film (which isn't bad) which is more than can be said for the last MG on this list.
6. Anime MG - An indescribably awful incarnation which barely counts as a Mechagodzilla in my eyes. Terrible design with a Millennium Falcon-like head, unseen abilities which just seem plain stupid and a terrible execution of a somewhat interesting idea. Not to mention the fact that he doesn't even show up in his own film outside of being a bland city.
Notes: For more detail, I've also made comments for the pages of each individual Mechagodzilla (though that was a while ago so some of it may be a little outdated)
Reviews of stuff
Godzilla films
(originally posted 13 September 2025, not the first time I've reviewed this film)
My Godzilla (1954) review:
Pros:
- The soundtrack is very good, even if a lot of scenes don't really have music.
- Most of the characters are good or at least decent - Dr. Serizawa and Dr. Yamane are particularly good.
- Godzilla himself. His design, his roar, his powers, his menace - everything.
- The special effects and destruction scenes are impressive, especially given the budget.
- The Oxygen Destroyer is a creative weapon and a good allegory for terrible weapons in real-life.
- The anti-nuclear themes of the film are well done.
- Very tragic (Godzilla's rampage, the hospital scene etc.) without being completely hopeless.
- Perfect ending.
Cons:
- Hideto and Emiko are rather weak/annoying characters which is a shame since they're two of the main ones. Thankfully, the rest of the characters both main and supporting are better.
- Certain scenes are a bit slow/boring but that's somewhat inevitable and also not a big problem.
Overall: 5/5 - excellent. A masterpiece of a film. Maybe this is a somewhat generic review basically said by many other people but I'd say it's an honest one. I will say this film is probably most effective the first time you see it and this is at least the fourth time I've watched this so I might try to avoid watching this one again for a while.

My Godzilla Raids Again review:
Pros:
- Godzilla is awesome as always. His design's not as good as the one in the first film but that's about the worst thing I can say.
- Anguirus is a fantastic addition to the Godzilla franchise and a great monster overall. (though I prefer him as Godzilla's ally)
- Good soundtrack.
- Pretty good destruction and battle scenes - I like the bit where Godzilla randomly knocks over a lighthouse(?), I found that amusing for some reason.
- The characters are alright, not particularly good or particularly bad. (I guess this is both a pro and a con)
- It's nice to see Dr. Yamane reappear, if only briefly. His knowledge of palaeontology has improved and it helps further connect this film to the first one.
- The concept for the final battle where Godzilla is buried in ice is a good one and is more creative than simply using another cataclysmic weapon again.
Cons:
- I don't like that they make Godzilla's reason for attacking humanity him being attracted to lights rather than revenge for being awakened/mutated by H-Bombs.
- Rather large chunk of the film where nothing related to Godzilla happens and it's boring considering it's all about the business moving to Hokkaido. It would've been better if they moved the main battle between Godzilla and Anguirus a bit later into the film.
- Though the concept for the final battle is good, the execution is less so since it's dragged out and overly long imo.
Overall: 3.5/5 - good. Not as bad as it's often made out to be and I'd say it's underrated but it's definitely flawed.

My King Kong vs. Godzilla review:
Pros:
- Godzilla is awesome as always. I know a lot of people dislike the KingGoji design but I actually like it and find it one of my favourite designs.
- Great soundtrack. I have no clue why the American version would remove this.
- Some amusing moments in both the monster and human scenes.
- Very entertaining destruction and battle scenes, the final battle is particularly great.
- The Giant Octopus is a fun side monster. In the past, I often accused him of being uncreative but I'd say I like him.
- Mr. Tako is quite a good and amusing villain of sorts if not a bit annoying at times (I'd say his greed and obsession with Kong as a sponsor while ignoring everything else makes him a villain). Everyone else is okay I guess.
- King Kong climbing on the National Diet Building with Fumiko is a nice little reference to the Empire State Building scene in the original film. (I think it's meant to be a reference)
Cons:
- I actually really like King Kong but I do not like this incarnation of him. Not only is he one of the ugliest creatures in either franchise but he's a drunken idiot who honestly just pales in comparison to both the original Kong or the other Godzilla-fighting Kong in personality, menace or even just charm. The only thing I like about him is his electricity powers.
- The film takes a while to get going and I found the earlier scenes in the film including the Faro Island stuff quite boring (The Faro Island stuff also hasn't aged particularly well). Thankfully, the final battle helps to make up for this.
- The earlier part of the film kind of jumps between various plotlines and characters in a weird way, I'm not sure how to describe it.
Overall: 3.75/5 - good. A entertaining classic film that I find a little overrated but still good. Sad that the American version with "Godzilla's brain is the size of a marble!" is more widely distributed.

My Mothra vs. Godzilla review:
Pros:
- Godzilla is awesome as always, even if he does seem a bit of an idiot in this one with his rather clumsy destruction sequences.
- Mothra and the Shobijin are great additions to the Godzilla franchise. I don't understand why the Shobijin seem to be so disliked among some fans.
- Good battle and destruction scenes even if I preferred the ones in the previous three. I particularly liked Godzilla attacking Nagoya Castle and Godzilla fighting the imago Mothra.
- Pretty good special effects generally, I liked the typhoon sequence at the beginning and the destruction of the hotel.
- Good soundtrack.
- Decent human characters. They're not particularly good but not bad either.
- Kumayama and Jiro Torahata are good human villains and it's satisfying to see them die due to their own greed/stupidity. They're also a good criticism of greed with their obsession with making money for themselves.
Cons:
- The stuff on Infant Island is kind of weird (and also hasn't aged very well), namely the way they suddenly agree to Mothra fighting Godzilla after that speech. Maybe it's just the subtitles specific to the version of the film I have that didn't translate the dialogue too well.
- Weird pacing, especially with the electricity tower sequence in between the two Mothra vs. Godzilla battles.
- It feels like a bit of a stretch that Godzilla can defeat the imago Mothra but then loses to the two new-born larvae.
Overall: 3.5/5 - good. It's quite different to how I remember it and I preferred it the first time I watched it all those years ago but it's still a pretty good entry if not perfect.

My Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster review:
Pros:
- Godzilla is awesome as always. Making him a more heroic character while still retaining his dislike of humanity was a good and creative move.
- King Ghidorah is an excellent monster. He feels very powerful and malevolent, and his special effects are well done considering how difficult he would've been to portray.
- Mothra, the Shobijin and Rodan make good appearances in this film. Mothra and the Shobijin make sense as peacemakers while Rodan feels like a true equal to Godzilla here and has a great personality.
- Great battle and destruction sequences; particular highlights include King Ghidorah destroying various cities, Godzilla and Rodan's battle and obviously the big battle at the end.
- Great soundtrack, especially what we hear during the kaiju scenes.
- Decent human plot. The characters aren't especially great but they're good enough.
- Mostly good pacing despite essentially having to accommodate for four monsters who don't meet until late into the film.
Cons:
- The film does take a bit of a while to get going and King Ghidorah feels somewhat side-lined for a fair amount of the film but what we get later makes up for it.
- Somewhat nitpicky but I wish the final battle wasn't interrupted by the conclusion of the assassination plot, I would've preferred it if they found a way to have the assassination plot finish just before the final battle
Overall: 4.5/5 - brilliant. It's not perfect but it's a great entry in the franchise and introduced King Ghidorah, Godzilla's archenemy and one of the best Godzilla monsters.
(originally posted 12 November 2025, not the first time I've reviewed this film)
My Invasion of Astro-Monster review:
Pros:
- Godzilla is awesome as always. You don't see as much of him in this film compared to previous ones but what we do get is pretty great, especially since he actually uses his atomic breath against King Ghidorah this time.
- It's nice to see Rodan and King Ghidorah again.
- The addition of the Xiliens was an interesting experiment and their obedience to their computers makes them a bit more interesting than they otherwise might be.
- Decent human characters.
- Good soundtrack.
- The special effects are pretty good, particularly in the destruction and monster scenes.
Cons:
- The monsters feel like a side plot and it wouldn't have been difficult to change the plot slightly to just be about the Xiliens. I'm not saying the Godzilla films can't experiment or that the kaiju have to always been onscreen but they shouldn't feel like side characters either.
- King Ghidorah's menace is reduced by him by having him be a mere Xilien puppet when in the last film he was a terror who destroyed just because he could. Unfortunately, this depiction stuck throughout both the Showa era and much of the franchise.
- Though the scenes with the mind-controlled Godzilla and Rodan battling the military are pretty good, the final battle is honestly something of a let-down with how short it is.
Overall: 3.25/5 - pretty good. There are good things to say about it but it's definitely not as good as it could've been imo.

My Ebirah, Horror of the Deep review:
Pros:
- Godzilla is awesome as always. He does spend a fair chunk of the film sleeping but what we get when he wakes up makes up for it.
- The Shobijin, Ebirah and the Giant Condor make good or alright appearances. The Shobijin make a brief appearance but an overall alright one. Ebirah may not be on the same level as King Ghidorah but he's a perfectly good kaiju in his own right and the way he often appears claw first is surprisingly ominous. The Giant Condor is a very random monster who appears for no reason and dies quickly but I still like him as a minor monster in the franchise.
- The soundtrack is quite different to usual and I liked it even if I prefer the soundtracks in previous films.
- Some good or at least decent characters.
- Entertaining battle and destruction scenes - particular highlights are Godzilla and Ebirah playing volleyball with a boulder and Mothra smacking Godzilla with her wing.
- I find the film's more silly aspects endearing/entertaining even if some of the attempts at comedy (I think they're attempts at comedy) don't land.
- It's satisfying to see the Red Bamboo get their comeuppance at the claws of Ebirah after what they did to the Infant Islanders.
Cons:
- Though there are good/decent characters, some of the other characters are a bit annoying and the villains could've been a bit better.
- Though not as bad as in the previous film, there are times where the monsters feel a bit like a side plot.
- Mothra is rather under-utilised and only wakes up at the end of the film. Her puppet is also weirdly shabby here.
Overall: 3.5/5 - good. Quite different to previous Godzilla films and an interesting experiment even if it doesn't entirely work.
(originally posted 3 December 2025, not the first time I've reviewed this film)
My Son of Godzilla review:
Pros:
- Godzilla is awesome as always and it's fun seeing him become a reluctant father. This is despite MusukoGoji being easily one of the worst designs Godzilla has ever had.
- Minilla, Kamacuras and Kumonga make good appearances. Minilla may not be conventionally cute but he's sweet and funny. Kamacuras and Kumonga are actually quite good/intimidating villains and the special effects associated with them are well done.
- Good soundtrack.
- Some pretty good battle and destruction sequences, especially the stuff with the giant bugs.
- Pretty good special effects and sets, I've already mentioned the bugs but the overall island set and the snowfall are also worth mentioning.
- The characters are mostly good/alright.
- Sweet ending with Godzilla and Minilla hibernating together on the island in the snowstorm.
Cons:
- The whole stuff with the experiment is honestly pretty boring and doesn't make much sense. How does freezing the whole island without seemingly having the ability to actually control the temperature to something in between boiling hot and freezing cold solve world hunger? That's not even mentioning how the experiment stuff feels forgotten at times in the film (though these are the better parts of the film).
- As an environmentalist and someone very interested in ecology, the fact the characters refer to places like Siberian tundra, African deserts and South American jungles as "wastelands" and "useless" is infuriating.
- The island setting isn't particularly interesting and was done better in Ebirah, Horror of the Deep. The entire film taking place on an island also makes it feel a little less like a Godzilla film if you ask me.
- The characters are mostly alright but can be a little annoying at times.
Overall: 3/5 - pretty good. This film is often dismissed simply for having Minilla or sometimes the two big bugs but these are some of the film's strongest aspects; I'd say what holds this film back is its plotline involving the weather experiment and its setting.
(originally posted 31 December 2025, not the first time I've reviewed this film)
My Destroy All Monsters review:
Pros:
- Godzilla is awesome as always and it's great seeing him leading the other monsters into battle. It's also a relief that the MusukoGoji design from the previous film wasn't used here.
- Lots of other monsters are featured in good roles. King Ghidorah was a very good choice for the role of the monster the others team up to defeat in the end. Anguirus makes his first appearance since the second Godzilla film, now as an ally of Godzilla (a role I personally prefer for him). Gorosaurus and Manda also have surprisingly large roles here given how few films they're in which is nice.
- Good soundtrack.
- The Kilaaks are an interesting addition and I'd say they're overall more interesting than the Xiliens.
- Great battle and destruction scenes - the rampage in Tokyo and battle against King Ghidorah are particularly good. It's also cool to see monsters rampaging through cities outside of Japan for the first time in a Godzilla film.
- The human characters are nothing special but are good enough.
- It's interesting to see what people in 1968 thought the future might be like.
Cons:
- Quite a few monsters sadly get side-lined - Baragon and Varan are the ones who get the least screentime but I also wish Kumonga in particular had a larger role.
- The Fire Dragon is boring and pointless. It would've been better if they'd instead extended the fight against King Ghidorah.
Overall: 4.25/5 - very good. An entertaining entry which would've been a great finale if they had decided to stop here, and my favourite since Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964).
(originally posted 13 January, not the first time I've reviewed this film)
My All Monsters Attack review:
Pros:
- Despite being used in an unusual role, Godzilla is awesome as always.
- Despite being two of the most disliked monsters in the franchise, I like both Minilla and Gabara. Minilla is an entertaining character and seems to be mainly disliked in this film because of his voice acting in the American dub which naturally isn't an issue in the original version of the film. Gabara is such a bizarre monster I can't help but like him; his electricity powers are also unironically pretty awesome.
- Some interesting concepts such as applying an anti-bullying message to a Godzilla film even if they aren't executed as well as they could've been.
- When stock footage isn't used, the scenes on Monster Island aren't too bad and are definitely some of the film's better parts. Gabara's battles with Minilla and Godzilla are pretty fun and link well with the anti-bullying message since he gets his comeuppance.
Cons:
- Pretty bad soundtrack. The "Monster March" is particularly painful.
- A lot of stock footage.
- He's not as bad as he's sometimes made out to be but Ichiro Miki is still quite irritating at times. Most of the other characters aren't exactly great either.
- A lot of the human scenes are pretty boring, especially the stuff with the kidnappers. The kidnappers are also just generally bad villains.
- The anti-bullying message isn't well-executed seeing as it ends with Ichiro essentially becoming one himself with his behaviour towards the billboard painter.
Overall: 2.25/5 - poor. This was rather hard to review due to being a rather bizarre entry in the franchise. What I will say is that it's not as bad as it's often been made out to be and has some good stuff but it's not a good film either.
(originally posted 21 January, not the first time I've reviewed this film)
My Godzilla vs. Hedorah review:
Pros:
- When he does stuff other than wave or fall over, Godzilla's pretty awesome. Unfortunately, much of the film portrays him almost as an idiot as he barely uses his atomic breath against Hedorah despite that clearly being more effective than his physical blows.
- There are times, mainly in the earlier parts of the film, where Hedorah does work as an antagonist and is genuinely creepy. I'd actually say Hedorah's earlier forms are the more interesting ones overall and the Perfect Stage is the least interesting despite having more abilities.
- The environmental message isn't as well executed as it could've been but I still like that they tried to address the issue of rampant pollution.
- Decent soundtrack.
Cons:
- Mediocre human characters. Ken Yano gets progressively more irritating through the film and everyone else is just kind of boring.
- Weird druggy scenes such as the animations and fish people in the nightclub which add nothing to the film.
- Inconsistent tone - on the one hand Hedorah melts and drowns people in sludge but then there's also Godzilla doing goofy stuff such as flying with his atomic breath.
- The environmental message is side-lined in the later parts of the film.
- The fight scenes in this one are actually so boring. Not only do Godzilla and Hedorah barely actually do anything other than wave at each other for most of them but they're unbelievably dragged out. The climatic battle is particularly bad in this respect and is an obvious attempt to pad out the runtime.
Overall: 1.25/5 - terrible. This could've been so good and it does start promisingly. Unfortunately, it then goes downhill with random druggy scenes thrown in and a climax that is dragged out and very boring.
(originally posted 28 January, not the first time I've reviewed this film)
My Godzilla vs. Gigan review:
Pros:
- Godzilla is awesome as always.
- Gigan is a cool new monster, with a unique appearance with his hook hands and buzzsaw. Anguirus and King Ghidorah also make good appearances.
- Godzilla and Anguirus teaming up to fight King Ghidorah and Gigan is awesome to see despite some weaknesses in the fight scenes (they're probably my four favourite Godzilla monsters).
- The M Space Hunter Nebula Aliens are probably my favourite alien race in a Godzilla film. Their origins, habit of using dead humans as disguises and true forms make them more interesting than the others imo.
- Good soundtrack.
- Decent human characters. Not great but not too bad either, I'd say they improved as the film went on.
Cons:
- Stock footage. There's quite a lot of it and it stands out since it's not integrated well into the rest of the scenes at all.
- Even outside of the stock footage, some of the fight choreography could've used some work. It's a bit repetitive at times for one thing and the special effects feel a bit weaker than in previous entries. It's not all bad though and the battle in World Children's Land is overall better than the earlier part in Tokyo.
- Nitpicky but I don't like that Anguirus is repelled by the military in that one scene, it makes him look unnecessarily weak. They could've just had him return to Monster Island to inform Godzilla of the situation or something.
Overall: 3.5/5 - good. A rather enjoyable film despite having a lot of stock footage and some other weak aspects.
(originally posted 29 January, not the first time I've reviewed this film)
My Godzilla vs. Megalon review:
Pros:
- When he actually shows up, Godzilla is awesome as always.
- Megalon is a fun new monster; he's not at all intimidating but he's unique and silly. Gigan's inclusion is a clear attempt to sell more tickets but it's still cool to see him team up with Megalon.
- Decent soundtrack.
- The human characters aren't too bad.
- When stock footage isn't used, the destruction/battle scenes aren't too bad - I particularly liked the dam destruction scene. The scene-setting at the start with the destruction of Monster Island is also pretty good.
- The dropkick is a funny moment.
Cons:
- Stock footage. Most of the destruction scenes prior to the final battle are made up of stock footage.
- The Seatopians had potential with their more unique motivation but are ultimately uninteresting.
- Jet Jaguar's definitely grown on me over the years but rewatching this reminds me of why I didn't used to like him so much. Not only is he goofy and unoriginal but he also spends much of the film either under "mind control" or getting beaten up prior to Godzilla arriving to help him out. Definitely a character done better in later media imo.
- Godzilla is very much a side character in this film and he exists purely for scene-setting at the start and to back up Jet Jaguar in the battle scenes. Gigan's also in a similar role as just being there to support Megalon.
- The plot is virtually non-existent and this is particularly noticeable as the film goes on.
Overall: 2/5 - poor. This film actually starts out quite well but ultimately goes downhill despite the final battle not being too bad.
(originally posted 5 February, not the first time I've reviewed this film)
My Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla review:
Pros:
- Godzilla is awesome as always. His design is improved from the last film and he gains ridiculous yet awesome magnetic powers.
- The other monsters make good or decent appearances. Mechagodzilla is a great antagonist with a cool design and a wide range of abilities; the Fake Godzilla idea was also interesting. Anguirus's battle with Fake Godzilla was a good one even if his suit had seen better days. King Caesar's mythological origins and beam-reflection abilities make him a decent monster even if he doesn't really compare to the other monsters in the final battle (Godzilla and Mechagodzilla).
- The special effects are improved from the previous few films and there's no (noticeable) stock footage.
- The destruction and battle scenes are fun even if I wish the final battle was a bit longer.
- The human/alien characters are overall decent - the most memorable are probably Nanbara and Kuronuma.
- Great soundtrack.
Cons:
- Yet another alien invasion story and it's getting old though at least Mechagodzilla has the excuse of needing to be built by someone. The Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens themselves are an okay race, I do appreciate them having some kind of true form as opposed to just looking like humans.
- The part with the aliens needing Professor Hideto Miyajima to repair Mechagodzilla (their robot) was silly and also unnecessary - just have him go into the execution chamber with the others while the aliens fix Mechagodzilla or something like that.
- The pacing maybe could've been improved a bit - sometimes it feels like it's been a while since the monsters have shown up even if the human stuff is pretty good.
Overall: 3.75/5 - good. It's not perfect but it's still an entertaining film and it's easy to see why Mechagodzilla became such a prominent monster in the franchise.

My Terror of Mechagodzilla review:
Pros:
- When he actually shows up, Godzilla is awesome as always. His angry design is cool.
- Titanosaurus is a neat monster and a favourite of mine, I like how he's usually a gentle creature simply being mind-controlled and I kind of wish we got to see more of his usual personality. Mechagodzilla also has some good moments despite being weirdly side-lined here compared to the previous film.
- Great soundtrack.
- The overall human plot isn't too bad - Dr. Mafune and Katsura are memorable characters even if everyone else is pretty average.
- The battle/destruction scenes are alright even though it's usually only one of the villain monsters acting at a time with the other just standing around. The special effects in general are also pretty good.
- Interesting change of tone in being darker than its immediate predecessors even if it doesn't entirely work.
Cons:
- Godzilla feels like a side character here and only shows up for the fight scenes towards the later parts of the film; other than that it's basically just a few mentions.
- I like both of them but Titanosaurus and Mechagodzilla sort of compete for the role of main antagonist here - it probably would've been better if it was a 1v1 (cutting Mechagodzilla also could've stopped this being yet another alien invasion story).
- The editing/pacing could've been better - one example is Godzilla falling into a ravine one second but the next we see is him pushing Titanosaurus through a building.
Overall: 3.25/5 - pretty good. There's good stuff to say about this one but it was a little odd to review for some reason, maybe because it's quite different to the other 70s Godzilla films. This would've been better if Godzilla and (especially) Mechagodzilla had been handled better.

My Chibi Godzilla Raids Again review:
Pros:
- A varied cast of characters - my favourites are probably Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Mechagodzilla, Chibi Ghidorah, Chibi Anguirus and Chibi Gigan
- Tons of references to the entire franchise
- The humour is actually pretty good
- Chibi Godzilla himself
- The art style is nice, including the character design (don't say "they look nothing like the characters", the Chibi monsters aren't direct incarnations and are just related characters)
- Not too many episodes but not too few either (obviously this could change). They're also all pretty short and easy to watch
- I like the way they did Godzilla in this show by having him be the dad of Chibi Godzilla and Chibi Minilla and just randomly apppear in the background every once in a while
Cons:
- I'd be lying if I said all the episodes are equal in quality - they can be a little hit-or-miss but they're never really bad
- Some characters get side-lined too much - Chibi Anguirus is probably the worst example of this imo
Overall: 4.25/5 - very good

My Godzilla (Game Boy) review (American/European version, accessed via RetroGames):
Pros:
- For what they are, the sprites are alright. The detailed sprites showing each monster are especially nice but you don't come across them very often (seems to be only before specific levels).
- Completing a puzzle is admittedly pretty satisfying.
- The controls are smooth and it's easy to control.
- Nice to be able to access the map simply by going to the pause screen, even if where Minilla is hidden is random as far as I'm aware.
Cons:
- If you do a puzzle wrong, your only option is to die and lose a life. Annoying, especially if it's because you got spammed by enemies rather than actually making a mistake.
- Hedorah and Rodan are very annoying enemies to deal with, especially Hedorah. Not hard, just annoying (couldn't they have made Hedorah just take more punches to kill or at least have less knockback resistance?)
- The soundtrack is irritating. I usually love video game soundtracks from all eras but this does not do it for me.
- Very nitpicky but why are half of the enemies monsters who are typically Godzilla's allies in contemporary media?
- Has very little in common with other Godzilla media - the monsters aren't giant, Godzilla has none of his usual abilities, etc. It's just a random kids game with the name Godzilla slapped onto it. (I get the original Japanese version is based on a children's manga somewhat more faithful to the franchise but this version takes out all reference to it so it doesn't have that excuse.)
- Not really a criticism of the game itself but the box art for the American and European versions of the game are practically clickbait. Maybe not unusual back then but still.
- Very repetitive - every level I've encountered is just destroying rocks yet again and it gets boring fast.
Overall: 1.5/5 - bad. Why did they do an official translated version of this but not the other Godzilla Game Boy game, Godzilla: Great Monster Battle or Godzilla: Giant Monster March?

My Godzilla 2: War of the Monsters review (accessed via RetroGames):
Pros:
- The sprites are pretty good.
- There's a decent variety of military vehicles for the player to use. Unfortunately, it doesn't mean much to me since I personally have little to no interest in the military but it should appeal to some people.
- The soundtrack's not too bad and you can turn it off if you want to (though that also removes all the sound effects).
- Various different maps and scenarios to choose (though the two I played were pretty similar).
- As other people have said, the win screen is funny.
Cons:
- The fighting system sucks. It's entirely down to chance whether or not you'll land a blow on the kaiju and I'm not a fan of that kind of gameplay at all. Not to mention how incredibly boring it quickly becomes.
- The kaiju are virtually impossible to defeat - they have loads of health/durability, the fighting system means you're unlikely to deal any damage anyway and they can regenerate.
- Nitpicky but I feel they could've added a couple of other kaiju to this game e.g. Mechagodzilla, Gigan or Anguirus - Jet Jaguar as a playable human invention would have been fun too. The selection of kaiju is a little small, especially considering there's 12 missions.
- Who wants to just play as the military in a Godzilla game? Playing as the kaiju is way more fun imo (though games where you can choose either are good).
- Not even a sequel to the other NES game. You know what the AVGN had to say about this.
- Just generally repetitive and dull. There's barely any variety in how the monsters fight the player and I ended up getting so bored in the first mission I let the kaiju win.
Overall: 1/5 - terrible. Good concept and monster cast ruined by bad gameplay.

My honest ranking of the Godzilla designs
1. ShodaiGoji. The original and the best. Can be used both in a menacing way and a goofy way (it kind of depends on the angle). Perfection.
2. FinalGoji. The agile one. I'm mixed on the film but there's something about this design I really like. My only problem is that I wish the dorsal plates were slightly bigger. (also how has this one not been used in a fighting game yet?)
3. GyuraGoji. I'm not the only one who likes this design but I'm probably one of the few who likes it for reasons other than the thighs. The tail and weird head help make him look like something from another dimension. Also, I'm only talking about Ultima, I don't particularly care for the other forms.
4. MinusGoji. Almost a perfect design - the dorsal fins, the menacing head, most of it. I just don't like the arms very much - they look awkward in quite a few shots.
5. BioGoji to DesuGoji. They're all pretty much the same in my eyes. Anyway, this IS Godzilla. It just doesn't reach certain other designs for me (and is honestly overused).
6. GareGoji, DougheGoji and EvoGoji/RedSkyGoji. I like them all equally. The first Godzilla I saw (I think) and just generally good designs.
7. MireGoji/GiraGoji. I like the jagged dorsal fins on this one. Mixed on the colours though.
8. KingGoji. I like the head and the body but I can certainly see why others don't.
9. ShinGoji. He's weird and deformed and I like that, it suits the film well. Probably wouldn't work well outside of the film though.
10. MosuGoji. A good design and a classic but there's something almost forgettable about him. Still good though.
11. AniGoji. You already know what I think of the Anime Trilogy but anyway - it's a pretty alright design and works well for Godzilla Earth, even if it is essentially a slightly altered GareGoji.
12. GMKGoji. He's pretty good.
13. KiryuGoji. Mostly good but the face looks really goofy in some shots.
14. GyakushuGoji. Okay but whether he looks menacing or plain stupid varies from frame to frame.
15. DaisensoGoji. I can see what they were trying to do but it just doesn't really work for me. I wouldn't call it bad but I wouldn't call it good either.
16. MegaroGoji. Overrated. Looks best in vs. Mechagodzilla imo.
17. SoshingekiGoji. He exists I guess? Most forgettable film design in my opinion.
18. 84Goji. They tried but it just looks weird in a lot of shots.
19. RexGoji. I don't particularly like the head design and it's really wrinkly for some reason. Good short films though.
20. GTS Godzilla. The GTS Godzilla seems to be a good incarnation (especially compared to his father) but I just don't think the design works for Godzilla. It would be a really good design if it was used for Zilla though.
21. Hanna-Barbera Godzilla. I can see the appeal but it's too cartoony (because of the art style it was used in) for me.
22. MusukoGoji. Ugly. Not much more to say.
23. ToraGoji. You already know what I think of this one so I won't say it again.
I know this list may be a bit contradictory at points but I find it difficult to explain why I like a certain design but not another at times. I would say I like all of them to at least some degree (outside of the bottom two).
