Ren Yifei and a team are sent by the Gene Research Company into a hidden region in search of samples, where Yifei's girlfriend Shen Yiqin has gone missing. Yifei's team travels through an underground ecosystem with a variety of extremely dangerous animals that kill several of the team members, they emerge in a snowy area where they're attacked by ice sharks, which are dispatched by a giant Snow Monster. Due to the harsh conditions Yifei collapses, and is rescued by indigenous people. Initially thinking they're in danger when the natives have blades for their antifrostbite treatment, Yiqin appears and they realize they aren't in danger. Exploring the village, they realize the Snow Monster is the village's protector and sacred guardian. Part of the team reveals itself to be mercenaries and attacks with the intention of capturing the creature, and Yifen and Yiqin must help stop them.
