Godzilla vs. Nijigen no Mori: Great Duel on Awaji Island (ゴジラ対ニジゲンノモリ 淡路島の大決闘 Gojira tai Nijigen no Mori: Awaji-shima no Daikettō) is a tokusatsu kaiju short film created for the Godzilla Museum: Awaji Island Tokusatsu Studio area of Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji, which opened on July 23, 2022. A personalized souvenir video, visitors can pay ¥3,000 to receive their own version,[1] with footage of them posing with Godzilla paired with prerecorded special effects footage, and a word of their choosing appearing in the onscreen title in place of the default "Nijigen no Mori."
Plot
Presented in the style of a tokuhō ("special announcement") teaser trailer, Godzilla travels destructively to the Nijigen no Mori theme park on Awaji Island, creating explosions of debris and causing trees to sway violently. Upon arriving, he is confronted by (an)other giant monster(s), to which he responds by charging up his atomic breath. The short ends with him letting off a blast of the weapon into the camera.

Production
Most of the short consists of prerecorded tokusatsu footage which makes use of suitmation, miniatures, and pyrotechnics, as well as digital compositing for Godzilla's atomic breath. The Godzilla suit it features bears the FinalGoji design from Godzilla Final Wars (2004); though its identity is unconfirmed, it resembles the promotional suit which was used the previous year in the short film Godzilla vs. Hedorah (2021). The visitors for whom the short is personalized play the "new monster(s)" that Godzilla faces. Stood in front of a blue screen inside of a scale diorama of Awaji Island,[2] they act opposite a screen-used Final Wars suit which is there on permanent display.[1]
