Mount Vesuvius is a somma-stratovolcano located southeast of Naples, Italy. Renowned for its most infamous and destructive eruption in 79 AD which buried multiple cities within its vicinity beneath molten lava, Mount Vesuvius appears in multiple kaiju media, particularly in the Godzilla franchise.
