Godzilla Head

The Godzilla Head (ゴジラヘッド Gojira Heddo) is a giant statue of the head of Godzilla mounted on the 8th floor terrace of the Hotel Gracery Shinjuku in Tokyo, Japan since 2015. The full building, called the Shinjuku Toho Building, also contains a Toho Cinemas theater, where the red carpet premiere for Shin Godzilla and the blue carpet Japanese premiere of Godzilla: King of the Monsters were held. The head is based on the head of the BatoGoji Godzilla suit,[1] and is capable of spewing mist and having its eyes illuminate. It is located 50 meters above the ground, making it a life-size representation of Godzilla's height in the Showa era. The faux rubble beneath the head contains relief depictions of scenes from the original Godzilla, The Return of Godzilla, and Godzilla vs. Mothra. It has become an iconic fixture of the Shinjuku cityscape, appearing in numerous films, series, and video games, including those in the Godzilla franchise itself.
Development
The construction of the Godzilla Head was first announced on December 8, 2014[2] and it was finished on April 10, 2015. The sculpture's official reveal to the public took place on April 17, 2015.[3]
History
Fest Godzilla II: Shinjuku Burning
