Millennium era
Godzilla: Tokyo SOS
In 2004, the DD-147 Aizu, followed by Hatake-class destroyers JS Hatakaze (DDG-171) and JS Shimakaze (DDG-172), engaged Godzilla near Hachijo Island as the monster swam toward Tokyo Bay. After readying its weapons systems, Aizu fired guided missiles and its Otobreda 127/54 Compact gun at Godzilla. The King of the Monsters submerged, and the commanding officer of the ship ordered to fire their torpedoes. Most of the torpedoes struck Godzilla, but were ineffective against the monster, and he continued advancing towards Tokyo.
