Fortnite is a 2017 online video game developed by Epic Games. The first season of the game's sixth Chapter included Godzilla, specifically the Monsterverse version of the character, including a Godzilla Evolved outfit.[2] It also included a collaboration with the anime series Kaiju No. 8, which added skins and multiple items.
Season 9 of Battle Royale (which ran from May 9 to July 31 of 2019) features a storyline that seemingly takes inspiration from various kaiju media. A massive monster called "The Devourer" awakens, emerging from Polar Peak, traveling through the oceans around the island and attacking various locations before being slain by Mecha in the Final Showdown Event.
The Devourer, or at least a similar monster, appears in the trailer for Fortnite's collaboration with Kaiju No. 8.
The "Rap Monster" emote features part of Eminem and Juice WRLD's song "Godzilla." The avatar exhales fire with its head facing upwards, as Eminem does in the music video for the song, which is also similar to the "Call to Arms" scene in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
One of the Godzilla Quests includes traveling a distance of 1954 meters, referencing the release year of the original Godzilla film.
Upon expiring, Godzilla raises his head to the air, and fires an atomic breath while roaring, which is similar to the "Call to Arms" scene in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
The Energized Godzilla outfit style erroneously glowing white
During Fortnite's October 2025 season, a bug caused the Energized Godzilla outfit style to glow white instead of pink. Coincidentally, this resembled early Godzilla Evolved concepts, which originally featured white as the primary color.[4]
