Alliance Home Entertainment is a division of the Alliance Entertainment Holding Corporation specializing in the distribution of films and TV to digital and physical platforms. It was formed in 2025 through the merger of Mill Creek Entertainment and Distribution Solutions, two other Alliance divisions.[1] Mill Creek was originally founded in the 2000s as Mill Creek Entertainment, LLC, an independent home video distributor which was acquired by Alliance on September 30, 2019.[9] Distribution Solutions was founded in 2006.[10]

Over the years, the independent Mill Creek released numerous kaiju and tokusatsu productions from studios such as Toho and Daiei to North American home video. In 2019, shortly before the acquisition, it secured the North American distribution rights to the Ultra Series and many of Tsuburaya Productions' other tokusatsu series,[11] which ultimately extended to the Alliance division and then Alliance Home Entertainment.[12] This has resulted in a gradual release of Tsuburaya media to DVD and Blu-ray in the region, which continues to this day.

Trivia

  • Mill Creek Entertainment's DVD release of Godzilla: The Series presents the series' 40 episodes in chronological order instead of the original TV broadcast order.
  • Like Shout! Factory's 2012 Ultraseven DVD, Mill Creek's 2019 Blu-ray of the series omits episode 12, which has been under a self-imposed ban by Tsuburaya Productions since 1970.

Notes

  1. The exact date of founding of Alliance Home Entertainment's oldest predecessor, Mill Creek Entertainment, is unknown. Its former LinkedIn page states that it was founded in 2000,[3] multiple news outlets state 2002,[4][5] its former website stated its "inception" was in 2003,[2] and records from the office of the Minnesota secretary of state show that it was not filed as an LLC until April 2005.[6] Moreover, the LinkedIn page for co-founder Ian Warfield places the beginning of his tenure in July 2002,[7] but a report by the Pioneer Press stated that the company would celebrate its 10th anniversary on October 28, 2012.[8]
