Simitar Entertainment, Inc. was an American entertainment company founded by Mickey Elfenbein and Philip Kives in 1985. It released three Godzilla movies to VHS in North America in 1990. In 1998, in order to capitalize on the impending release of TriStar Pictures' GODZILLA, Simitar re-released two of its earlier three Godzilla films to VHS along with three others. It also made all of these films available on DVD for the first time in the region. After Simitar went bankrupt in 2000, all of the Godzilla films that it had released, except for Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster, were acquired and released again to DVD by Classic Media.

Trivia

  • Peter Bollinger's cover art for Simitar's releases of Mothra vs. Godzilla is erroneously employed to represent Godzilla vs. Mothra on some streaming services and Sony Pictures' official website.
  • The description on the back of Simitar's Mothra vs. Godzilla releases erroneously refers to Infant Island as "Monster Island."
  • The description for Simitar's Godzilla vs. Monster Zero releases misspells Glenn and King Ghidorah's names as "Glen" and "Ghidra," respectively, and also erroneously states that the film was released in 1966 rather than 1965.
  • The DVD menus, which follow an identical format for each film, use library tracks from the De Wolfe Music library, including "Angel Of Death" by Tim Souster (main menu), "Force Of Darkness", also by Souster (scene selection menu), and "Dramaturgy Pt.2" by Paul Lemel (special features menu).
    • All of the descriptions on Simitar's 1998 releases also credit Ishiro Honda by the common misspelling "Inoshiro Honda."
