"Happy New Chibi Godzilla" (あけましてちびゴジラ, Akemashite Chibi Gojira) is the 53rd episode of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again and the 40th of its second season. Written by Taketo Shinkai and Yuki Hirokawa, it aired on Japanese television on December 31, 2024. An English-subtitled version was released on the GODZILLA OFFICIAL by TOHO YouTube channel on August 17, 2025.
Plot
Chibi Godzilla, Chibi Mechagodzilla, Chibi Minilla, Chibi Ghidorah, Chibi Mothra, and Chibi Rodan stare at the screen and wish the audience a happy New Year. Chibi Mechagodzilla attempts to say it's the Year of the Snake, but Chibi Godzilla shouts that it's the Year of the Godzi now, and that his dad will become a Zodiac sign. Chibi Mechagodzilla is unsure, but Chibi Minilla backs up Chibi Godzilla, who lists Monster Island's other Zodiacs: Year of the Ghido; Year of the Hedo; Year of the Moth; Year of the Bio; and Year of the Sheep. Chibi Mechagodzilla is taken off guard by the latter, causing Chibi Minilla to ask if it's weird and Chibi Rodan to speculate that sheep don't exist in the human world. Chibi Mechagodzilla believes it's more likely Chibi Godzilla mixed in sheep with various monsters before concluding new year celebrations are different on Monster Island.
Chibi Ghidorah states that it isn't New Year's without food. Chibi Mechagodzilla says he loves food and that in human New Year celebrations, different foods have different meanings, beginning to list different foods before Chibi Ghidorah says all the food they eat on Monster Island is fried, which symbolizes rising spirits, game scores, and blood pressure. Chibi Mothra says that they have a paddle game with a feathered shuttlecock, which Chibi Mechagodzilla notes humans also have. Chibi Rodan asks if the feathers on the shuttlecock are splendid before adding that they were painfully plucked from him and warns Chibi Mothra to be careful. Chibi Mothra pulls out another shuttlecock, which she also warns Chibi Mechagodzilla to be careful with since she was also plucked to make it, dismaying him. Chibi Mechagodzilla asks if they have more fun customs, and Chibi Godzilla remarks that he forgot the best part and pulls out a box of fortune slips, which he claims determines your fate and luck for the year. Chibi Godzilla's slip says "Godzi-Luck," Chibi Ghidorah gets "Ghido-Curse," Chibi Minilla receives "Mini-Blessing," and Chibi Mothra pulls "Better-Moth-Next-Time." Chibi Mechagodzilla asks if they're all plays on their names and that it's different from human traditions. Chibi Minilla affirms that this is normal on Monster Island before Chibi Rodan reveals his fortune, "Roda-Great Luck," which is already inaccurate due to stating he will not be plucked this year. Finally, Chibi Mechagodzilla draws his slip, which is straight "Misfortune" and further elaborates that he will forget to cook rice while making curry and be pushed around by everyone. Chibi Godzilla and all of his friends agree that Chibi Mechagodzilla will be the comic relief this year.
