Andrea Kwan is a Canadian content coordinator and former voice actress and director. While vacationing in Hong Kong in 1997, she responded to an Omni Productions newspaper ad looking for North American voice actors. Despite a lack of formal acting training and an initial rejection because the company feared "[she] might have a Chinese accent because of [her] last name", Kwan was ultimately hired that May and enjoyed a prolific career at Omni, serving as Operations Manager from 2003-2007 and Heading Dubbing Director from 2004-2008.[1][2][3] She voiced major supporting or leading characters in every available Hong Kong-recorded Godzilla dub from the Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993) redub to Godzilla Final Wars (2004).[note 1] She also dubbed numerous iconic anime series for broadcast on Animax, with credits including young Goku in Dragon Ball,[3] female Ranma Saotome in Ranma ½,[2] Kagome Higurashi in InuYasha,[3] and Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.[2][3] Kwan left Omni in 2011 and has since returned to Canada.[3]

Notes

  1. Although not all of Kwan's tokusatsu voice work has been definitively linked to Omni Productions, her LinkedIn page does not mention any other dubbing studio.
