Template talk:Toho Monsters
If this is a navbox for Toho kaiju, then why are the Mutos included in it? Both Mutos were created by Legendary and are trademarked by Legendary as far as I am aware. Are they only in the navbox because they are part of the MonsterVerse? In that case, shouldn't the Skullcrawlers and all of the other monsters from Skull Island be in there too? It would make sense considering we also have Kong in the navbox and he isn't a Toho kaiju either. ~Deathrock9 (talk) 13:44, 12 February 2017 (UTC)
- The MUTOs and Kong appeared in films featuring Godzilla, a Toho creation, that were officially licensed by Toho and distributed by Toho in Japan. The King of the Monsters (talk) 18:34, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
Television monsters section
Could we change the "television monsters" section to something like "episodic series monsters" so that we can include Get Going! Godzilland and Godziban among other potential series? Same question for the gallery equivalent of this template. -Titanozilla2023 (talk) 15:40, 11 December 2024 (UTC)

- Sweet! I went ahead and added the respective kaiju of that show. - To live up to its name, this template should really have the monsters from every Toho-involved TV show we cover, although separate sections for Godzilla and non-Godzilla series would be best. Additional sections
Could we add sections for "video game monsters", "book monsters" and "comic monsters" (while obviously doing the same for the gallery template)? I think it would be helpful since we'll be adding a lot of incarnation pages outside of audio-visual media (mainly for Godzilla himself) and I think it looks fine on the sandbox for the King Kong monsters template I'm using to experiment with these ideas. -Titanozilla2023 (talk) 14:39, 28 July 2025 (UTC)

The only other question I have before I add these sections is should the works be split into continuities e.g. having one for the overall IDW Universe, or the works themselves e.g. having three for each of GKoM, G2012 and GRoE? - Having added sections for book and comic monsters by continuity (haven't done video games yet), I think they work well but there are two more comic-related things I found a little problematic: the Monsterverse comics and various Godzilla manga. The only thing I could think of doing for the Monsterverse stuff is to have two sections between "Godzilla: The Half-Century War monsters" and "Godzilla: Cataclysm monsters" called "Canonical Monsterverse comic monsters" (for stuff like Godzilla Dominion) and "Non-canonical Monsterverse monsters" (for stuff like Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong) but that doesn't seem entirely right to me so I wanted to mention this before adding anything, especially since there are situations like Godzilla: Awakening where its canonicity is unclear. For manga, I was thinking of adding an entirely different category between "Book monsters" and "Comic monsters" called "Manga monsters" since they tend to be quite different from comics and the "Comic monsters" section is already massive. -Titanozilla2023 (talk) 13:50, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
