Mutian

The Mutians (ミューティアン Myūtian) are a race of mutant humans who appear in the 1996 Toho/TV Tokyo television series Guyferd. They are the first species of monster that Guyferd encounters.
Origins
Mutian is a name given to humans who have been parasitized by the alien virus Fallah. This procedure typically grants the Mutian incredible strength and the ability to manipulate their life force, referred to as "ki" into powerful energy attacks. However, the mutation is not always successful, and can leave the subject with a lack of clear thoughts or emotions, resulting in violent, beastlike behavior. While Mutians did exist before Crown became aware of them, they were the first to name and experiment upon them as part of their "Ultimate Trooper" program, headed by Megumi Shion. Shion's refined mutation process involved treatment with animal cells to alter the appearance and abilities of the resulting Mutian.[1]
Appearance
Typically, human contact with Fallah results in the growth of crusty green patches of skin and similar spiked protrusions. Crown's Mutians were treated with animal cells to alter the end product. Animals used in Mutian creation procedures include gorillas, snakes, sea slugs, spiders, scorpions and bats.

Guyferd
"The Birth of Guyferd!"
After an experiment with the Fallah Virus went horribly wrong and produced a Mutian from a former Crown scientist named Kihara, Takeo Shiroishi ordered an evacuation and tried to contain her in the laboratory. Kihara however, quickly broke out and turned on her former friend, enraged at having been locked up. A group of three Guyborgs then arrived and one fired two tranquilizer darts into her arm to no effect. They then activated their helmets and began to attack her in hand-to-hand combat. However she proved incredibly strong and fought them away before blasting one Guyborg with a green energy attack. She fired more and missed before dropping dead.
They then forced Michiyuki Taki into Mutian transformation, making him into the Mutian Jerks, who escaped and destroyed the facility before being killed by Guyferd.
Abilities
Ki manipulation
When an individual is infected with Fallah, they gain the ability to manifest their life energy, or ki, into a physical attack. While any Mutian is capable of this, a ki attack is most effective when a subject has had training in hand to hand combat.
Durability
Mutians are easily able to withstand shots from a gun.
Animal adaptations
Most Mutians are treated with animal cells to give them an animalistic appearance and traits.
