Ultraman on this wiki

13
Summary by Les

Wikizilla:Scope defines what we cover. Shin Ultraman happens to qualify, but that does not mean other tenuously-connected media does.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

Its funny how Ultraman on rules is forbidden because outside media needs to king kong or godzilla reference but then we have shin ultraman pages (especially neronga one). Is this only because toho helped with the movie? If that so then Evangelion 3.0+1.0 and shin kamen rider should have their own pages here

The H-Man (talkcontribs)
Quameba (talkcontribs)

The Shin Ultraman incarnation is supposed to have a page but he's still in sandbox.Sandbox:Ultraman

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

that shouldn't be aceptable because of what i said if outside media got inspiration by kong, gamera or godzilla should be added

Les (talkcontribs)

Begging you to read the page The H-Man linked. Shin Ultraman and all of the elements therein qualify because it is a giant monster movie produced by Toho. Evangelion is a.) Not produced by Toho and b.) Animated instead of live-action, which has its own stricter rules. Shin Kamen Rider doesn't have giant monsters or meet the staff relation thresholds, and we didn't feel that simply having the Shin branding makes it "directly related" to the others.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

A-Isn't produced by Toho but got distributed by it, which makes sense having a page B-Kamen rider have Kaijins, who exist on this wiki and have their own pages, so again makes sense

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

From Wikizilla:Scope:

The following types of films will be automatically excluded:

  1. Ultra Series, Super Sentai, and Kamen Rider films, as well as films which focus on parodying these franchises, unless they are funded by Toho.
  2. Other Tsuburaya Productions films, unless they are feature-length and financed or distributed by Toho.

Shin Kamen Rider is, naturally, a Kamen Rider film. It was not financed by Toho, therefor it's not allowed within the Wikizilla scope. Even if neither of these were true, its connection to the bulk of this Wiki is already extremely tenuous.

Shin Ultraman, although part of the Ultra Series, is a Toho-financed film and allowed under that circumstance.

One purpose of the Scope page and rules was to prevent these "what about [insert film/monster here]" questions.

Les (talkcontribs)

A correction: Shin Kamen Rider is partially financed by Toho, specifically Toho Entertainment, the agency that represents Minami Hamabe. However it still falls short of qualifying: no giant monsters, none of its key staff worked on two Godzilla movies, and like I said above, it's not "related" enough.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

Theres kaijin on the movie, so should be related

Les (talkcontribs)

Everything must be compliant with the list of rules you refuse to read. No point in me continuing to argue with you.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

Well there is but not on this topic, that being the public domain question Since Reptiasaurus its not a valid case, Gorgo and Konga kaijus can be valid to put here since Lukk already has his own page?

Les (talkcontribs)
Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

didn't answer the part on checking the wiki

Public Domain kaijus on this wiki

Summary by Les

Monsters will not be included simply for being public domain. Ones that appear in media we cover are fine.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

Gorgo, Orga, Konga and lukk are the only public domain kaijus that have pages here. Is allowed if we add more kaijus related to them + adding reptiasaurus?

Les (talkcontribs)

I don't think any of what you listed are public domain. That doesn't have any bearing on what we cover though. Any monsters from the Gorgo and Konga comics, including Reptisaurus, could have pages because we cover both of them.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

All comics from Charlaton Comics are in public domain since they didn't reniew their rights

Les (talkcontribs)

I've heard that repeated, but what is the source for it?

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

Charlaton comics never renewed their comics so they turned out to be public domain If you want to know more into it theres a wiki called Public domain super heroes, there you encounter the info for it

Les (talkcontribs)

This does not at all look like a reputable website. It saying it's true is just as good as you or I saying it; it proves nothing.

I don't know why you're so caught up with the public domain aspect though. I already told you that will never factor into what's covered here.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

Im caught up with the public domain aspect because of the simple name it has. Characters that aren't on this wiki like Arctic giant, Martian invaders, Reptiasaurus should be covered the simple fact that they can be used by everyone, meaning that they should have a chance to be covered here

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

That doesn't mean that those characters fall within Wikizilla's scope.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

this covers kaijus and stuff related to them, why its so hard to cover multimedia kaijus?

Les (talkcontribs)

It's not about the medium, it's about relevance. The Scope exists to define the site's identity. We decided we want our website to be about Godzilla, Kong, and Gamera primarily, and everything else has to be connected to those in ways we set. It is not feasible or interesting for us to cover all manner of monster-related media. It's like petitioning the Pokemon wiki to start covering Digimon—it's not our job.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

"us" you have other people that can cover them, not you or any other admin on this website. Meanwhile there is also a big mistake: as you said that shin ultraman was created by toho and stuff like that. But movies/series that got distributed by toho don't have that. So would make sense that pages and monsters would get their own pages.

Les (talkcontribs)

Well it's certainly not you, who consistently takes to the comments to demand other people write pages faster.

And Toho also distributed Orca, A Quiet Place, Nope, Jurassic World: Rebirth, etc. That is not a good metric of involvement. Even if you limit it to Japanese productions, they brought the GRIDMAN movies and numerous Ultraman things to theaters, among others, which it would be preposterous for us to cover on those grounds alone. Shin Ultraman is a unique case and your comparisons are tenuous.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

i confirmed the email for that own reason, now i can do that myself

Les (talkcontribs)

Reptisaurus was in the Gorgo comic, so he can have a page for that reason. The other stuff has nothing to do with us. Covering any monstrous character under the sun is not our mission, you can go to another website for that.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

Well shall be it Time to create pages to kaijus related to konga, gorgo and reptiasaurus.

PhilipBy2 (talkcontribs)

King Kong himself is public domain and he’s here.

I would assume any public domain monsters currently not on here would only be allowed to have pages if they fell under the wiki’s scope of what is and isn’t covered.

The H-Man (talkcontribs)

"I would assume any public domain monsters currently not on here would only be allowed to have pages if they fell under the wiki’s scope of what is and isn’t covered."

Precisely.

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

Gorgo and Konga kaijus fell into that scope so adding more should be possible same going to reptiasaurus since he joined on gorgo's comics and prob was inspired by godzilla

Nebula Enjoyer (talkcontribs)

Well lukk is one of them and its from konga, who is here via sandbox Now gorgo and orga kaijus can work cuz, yk, they have pages
