Film logos and video releases

Please try to be more discerning about where you pull logos from. The covers you uploaded for Gorath and Matango are bootleg discs, and the logo on the Gorath one is just a generic Godzilla font with some drop shadow. If you can, please replace that one with a more appropriate logo—I'd recommend either the one from the Japanese poster (there's a decent version of it on the back of the '94 LaserDisc, maybe could be recolored blue for accuracy) or the one Brenco used in the U.S.

The Matango logo you did seems fine, the design is official. The one you linked there is the exact same thing, just in white, which I think looks worse.

Ani Mate, the One-Headed Human (talkcontribs)

I’d recommend the logo featured in some of the international promotions (such as the trailer) for Gorath. There’s another one used in some of the Japanese posters, though it’s not as interesting and can be difficult to find in high quality.

Les (talkcontribs)

The trailer logo definitely has more-interestingly-shaped letters, but it's a pretty plain white with no texture. I think the LaserDisc logo I linked in a poster-accurate blue would stand out the most, but that's just me.

Ani Mate, the One-Headed Human (talkcontribs)

Well, I might still have files for that somewhere. I’m a little busy for a while but I can always find it again if you’re interested. Still got a few logos about.

Anguirus95 (talkcontribs)

I'll update the logo soon. I decided to take the one on the Japanese poster. I like that it's blue on a dark background. The yellow American logo is also nice, but not as interesting.

Anguirus95 (talkcontribs)

Well, I updated it. Now I also discovered that I can choose special colors for text, which is good...

I don’t think this will sway your opinion, and I also just want to give Anguirus a break, but I’ve found a Facebook post on the Kaiju/Monster Movie Poster Fans group that has some international material for some of Toho's films. There’s two for Gorath, with the logo from the international trailer: the first one’s a little difficult to see, but it’s got a nice texture with golden colouring, the second one is in black and white with a faint 3D look to it. The Matango logo is there as well, with a slightly different red against a black background and two small white dots (not sure if this is actually part of the logo or just damage). There’s also an English Dogora logo in red, it’s slightly covered up but I think it’s also on some Japanese posters. These pictures show some really interesting images, like international logos for KKvG, MvG (or Godzilla Against Mothra in this case) and a glimpse at a unique English Return of Daimajin logo.

Not expecting anything to come from this, just though it was interesting.

Too much info, but I laughed at the poster for GvsM, where Gorgo is mentionedšŸ˜‚ When I have time, I'll take a closer look. I plan to create templates here for all the remaining films I've seen, including Gappa and Gorgo. The last thing I'll be doing is Gamera and The Lost World. Gamera has the most difficult logos, and TLW is still a sandbox.

Ani Mate, the One-Headed Human (talkcontribs)

Yeah, sorry about that. I get into great detail way too often, my attempt at being clear and understandable with the information. Second only to my constant edits.

Hey Anguirus95!

It has been more than apparent that you have been making plenty of pages, which is really good! I was going to recommend as well that you can use a sandbox if you need more time to work on a page and perfect it. Then if it is sufficiently ready, the page can be promoted.

Anguirus95 (talkcontribs)

I know about this feature, but thanks for the kind words😁

No problem!

ā€œFile:ā€ Prefix Removal

BioRobot2002 (talkcontribs)

Hi, Anguirus95!

I noticed you were removing the file prefixes from galleries to save space. I just wanted to let you know that any visual edits will automatically restore the ā€œFile:ā€, which is why a lot of the galleries have them. Even if you remove every single one, most will reappear eventually.

I’m not saying you need to do or change anything (I’m not a moderator). I only want to bring this to your attention.

(I’m sorry if I come off as rude or condescending, I don’t mean to. I’m trying to work on my tone ;w;)

Anguirus95 (talkcontribs)

It's okay, thanks for telling me that. I've always disliked visual editing. "File:" takes up space and makes it hard to edit code. But I'm not upset. In Word, you can remove all these prefixes in a couple of secondsšŸ˜

Summarizing adaptations of films

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

For what it's worth, a lot of the character/monster pages on this site don't fully summarize novelizations and other film adaptations, instead highlighting the ways in which they differ from the source material. It's not official policy, but I think it's more helpful to the reader than a bevy of slightly different synopses, and easier on us besides.

Anguirus95 (talkcontribs)

And... why did you write this to me? I don't write slightly different synopses. Where do you think I wrote this?

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

The pages for Mike (Universal) and Carnahan, for instance. Apologies for the late response, I'm still catching up on things post-G-Fest.

Anguirus95 (talkcontribs)

There are noticeable differences. Mike dies differently in the adaptations, or doesn't die at all. Carnahan's death in the novelization is described more gory (''Piranhadon'' is still eating him as it approaches Jack), which is also an important difference. An example of what you're talking about is Weston. He have the same actions and dialogue in all 2005 adaptations, so I won't write about him in such detail.

Astounding Beyond Belief (talkcontribs)

Right, what I'm saying is that you can zero in on those differences and gloss over the parts that are the same as the film. The Behemoth page offers an example of this.

Anguirus95 (talkcontribs)

Well, I think I removed everything that was too similar to the filmšŸ¤” On my other pages I've written almost nothing about adaptations.

Welcome aboard!

The Boy Who Cried Godzilla (talkcontribs)

I've noticed you taking an interest in our Kong pages lately, and I just wanted to say hello. It's always nice to get a new editor, especially in our neglected Kong sector. That said, a lot of the pages you'll come across are very old and pretty lacking, so sorry you have ended up picking up my mess lol. If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out. Have fun out there!

Anguirus95 (talkcontribs)

Thank you for the kind greeting! I plan to write a lot here about both Godzilla and Kong. I can't promise it will be soon, but I've been into kaiju for over 15 years, so it's just a matter of inspiration.
