Just wondering because I don't think they're stated anywhere to be canids. They're stated to be "Canus" in some of their profiles but that's not Canis.

They are designed after jackals, which are canines. It is canine-like.
There are too many elements to deny. The Canus thing which was probably a typo originally, the fact they're named "Jackal," they're characterized as mammalian despite looking reptilian (warm-blooded, pack behavior, birthing live young, etc.), Titan Chasers even has the Dire variant that's clearly playing off a dire wolf.
