Topic on User talk:Les

The category for snake monsters states "or resembles snakes", which is why I put it on the Slither Flower. Another thing is that the Drownviper, which is a fish thing, is in it aswell

My read of that caveat is being obviously based on snakes, not just sharing basic features with them. It's there to be inclusive of monsters that are not snakes canonically, like King Cobra and Doggross who are a demon and mutated human, respectively, but are clearly drawing on snakes. It seems silly to me to call something snakelike just for having a long, limbless body (not something exclusive to snakes), especially when we know precisely what non-snake animal it's based on.

As for the Drownviper, I think the comparison is fair when it has "viper" in its name and is repeatedly called by snake comparisons in the novelization.
