Mikasa (三笠,   Mikasa) is the friend of Eren and Armin. She is a member of the new Scout Regiment that appears in the 2015 Toho-produced live-action films Attack on Titan the Movie: Part 1 and later in Attack on Titan the Movie: Part 2.

Name

In other Attack on Titan media, Mikasa's full name is Mikasa Ackerman. In the live-action duology, her surname is never acknowledged.

Personality

Initially, Mikasa is sweet and caring. When the Colossal Titan started to attack the outer wall and thus risk sending debris down on the nearby humans, Mikasa was quick to urge her friends to leave the area. When the ruckus escalated with the appearance of titans, Mikasa and her friends began to flee into the heart of their village. When a lone mother and her child were in danger of being trampled over, Mikasa and Eren to attempted to aide them. In doing so, Mikasa got separated from Eren and demonstrated her high capacity for compassion and protectiveness towards others.

Following her separation from her friends, Mikasa became cold and apathetic after the baby she saved was eaten. As a reflection, she developed a harsh viewpoint on the world, seeing it as cruel and unfair.

Over the course of Attack on Titan the Movie: Part 1, Mikasa warms up to her friends and showed no fear when Eren grabbed ahold of her in his Titan form.

Throughout Attack on Titan the Movie: Part 2, Mikasa regains her protectiveness over and feelings for Eren. She evens comes to rescind her feelings for Shikishima after the pain he caused, though she did in the end appeal to the good within him in order to accomplish their original objective, leading to his self-sacrifice which killed Kubal and succeeded in sending down debris from the top of the outer wall that sealed away the hole.

Trivia

  • In the Attack on Titan source material, besides her mutual romantic feelings for Eren which last even after his death in the series finale, Mikasa is also his adoptive sister since his parents took her in after she was orphaned at the age of 9 by human traffickers who killed her father and later did the same to her mother when she tried to protect Mikasa. In the live-action adaptation duology, Mikasa simply started out as Eren's girlfriend before being separated from him for 2 years, during which she established a new relationship with Captain Shikishima, before ultimately rescinding her feelings for Shikishima by the time of his death in the second film.
